It goes well, but then Ruby notices something.

As the first song started, a rather slow one, Jaune led Neo onto the dance floor, taking one hand, and putting it on her back, right above her ass. With a beaming smile, she imitated the gesture, and they began a slow waltz.

As they moved around the dance floor, Jaune took note of other couples. Ruby and Weiss were together, with Weiss actually seeming to enjoy herself... When Ruby wasn't accidentally stepping on her toes. Ouch. Those heels were making things pretty miserable for both of them here and there.

Yang and Blake were also dancing together, and both were pretty happy with it. There was Ren and Nora, which Jaune mentally approved of. If too many couples of girls close to him just danced with each other, it might raise some eyebrows. Especially when he noticed some unexpected people in the ballroom. 'Wait, is that James Ironwood?' Jaune mentally asked as he saw the imposing general, who seemed to be assisting with the chaperoning. Luckily, it seemed Glynda was distracting him with some small talk, but he still didn't want to attract HIS attention in addition to Ozpin's. Side note, Penny was also attending, though there were a couple of Atlas security personnel with her.

At least Jaune could manipulate Ironwood somewhat with the Note. He knew his full name. The real problem would always be Ozpin until Jaune could find out his surname. Why the hell wasn't that public knowledge? Soon enough, the first song came to an end, and Neo, despite being clearly disappointed, pulled away from Jaune, though she was still smiling, having quite enjoyed herself. Then, she smirked mischievously, quickly looking around, before leaning up to peck him on the cheek, before skipping away merrily. Jaune chuckled as he watched her go.

"Ow, my feet," Weiss whined as she walked by. "Dang clutz, heels aren't that hard!"

"You've had practice fighting in them," Pyrrha rolled her eyes as she embraced Jaune from behind. "Shall we?"

"I'd love to," Jaune grinned as the next song started, and the two began dancing together.

"Finally getting the hang of these infernal things," Ruby grumbled as she walked around. Weiss had insisted she walk around in the heels until she got more used to them before they next danced. Thus, she was outside for a little bit of fresh air, and was about to head back in after several songs had come and gone already, before she noticed something... A figure running along the rooftops, clearly up to something. She froze. Could this be related to the activities of the White Fang and Roman? She frantically grabbed her Scroll, and dialed Jaune. "Jaune? We got trouble," she stated.

A short while later, Ruby and Jaune were outside the Cross Continental Transmit System Tower. "You followed them here?" Jaune asked as he got his weapon and shield from his locker, which he had called to him, as Ruby had also called hers. He had left Pyrrha at the dance for now in case anything happened there, and though she was disappointed, he promised he'd be back in time to catch a few more dances.

"Yes, and it looks like whoever it was knocked out the guards," Ruby said, making sure Crescent Rose was loaded.

"Right... Let's get in there then..."

Cautiously, they headed for the terminal room, to encounter a masked woman doing something to the computers. What followed was a short battle that quickly put Jaune and Ruby on the defensive, but it ended when Ironwood abruptly showed up, causing the woman to retreat, with neither Jaune nor Ruby able to see where she had gone.

Ironwood examined the scene, seeing a chess piece on one of the terminals, confusing him, before he turned his attention to Ruby and Jaune. "... I suggest you both return to the dance while I report this to Ozpin. We'll be wanting to speak about this to you both tomorrow," he finally said.

'Shit,' Jaune thought. So much for avoiding attention.
