Aren't You Forgetting Something?

It's Moltres!

The ground begins to shake beneath your feet as the magma starts to get even more unstable. The whole island begins to shake as black smoke comes billowing out the volcano's chimney.

"Oh no! Were we too late?" You yell as your Pokemon begin to cower and cry in fear. Suddenly flame shoots out of the craggy rocks to your side, and Moltres flies to the center of the lake of fire.

"Moltres!" You shout. Maybe the legendary bird can stop the volcano's eruption.

The Flame Pokemon spreads its wings and begins to draw in the heat within the air. A fiery aura appears around it as it begins to siphon off heat from the lava pool. You decide it would be best to help.

"Slowpoke! Shellder! Use Bubblebeam on the lava! Slugma! Rhyhorn! Help out by burying that lava with Rock Slide! Bulbsaur! Come with me!" You shout your orders to your team, who respond in the affirmative and begin following your orders.

Running around the side of the lake of fire, you keep and eye on Moltres. Once you're sufficiently off to its side, you open your pack and bring out your two other water type Pokemon. Technically, it's against the rules, but it is an emergency! Releasing Staryu and Krabby, you give them the same directions as Slowpoke and Shellder.

Sliding down closer to the lava, you hold Bulbasaur in your arms. "Moltres! I'm going to have Bulbasaur fire a Leech Seed into the center of the lake. Can you charge it up?" You call out to the legendary bird.

"Mol!" The firebird responds. That's good enough for you. Positioning your Bulbasaur's bulb toward the lake, you issue the command. "Bulbasaur! Leech Seed!" You shout.

"Bulba-saur!" He responds, and fires one of his seeds to the lake. As soars through the air, Moltres starts channeling all the stored power into the seed. As it floats there, surging with power, suddenly it releases a shockwave. Energy goes surging through the cavern and the last thing you see before your black out is the seed taking root.

As you awaken, you realize the ground is no longer shaking. With a start, you burst up into a sitting position and look around. What was once a lake of fire has now cooled, and warm spring water now fills the hardened magma. Up above; the smoke has cleared, allowing you to see the sky through the chimney of the volcano. What's most startling though is the huge tree that now rests in the center of the cavern.

"You're awake!" A feminine voice says, although you feel it in your mind more than actually hear it. Looking towards the source of the telepathic waves; you see Moltres resting on an exposed root of the tree, an ethereal glow around it. Gathered around Moltres are Shellder, Staryu, Slowpoke, Krabby, Rhyhorn and... Ivysaur?

"Because of you, the threat to the volcano has passed. However, I had to use up all of my energy to stop the eruption!" The hauntingly beautiful voice in your head says. "I owe you a great debt already, but I am afraid I must ask you for one more favor."

You're not sure what the Moltres is about to ask, but you fear it's going to be big.

"Give me your body!" Moltres asks. You slip and fall face first into the clear waters at your feet. "No! I didn't mean like that!" The thought waves say, sounding embarrassed. "I mean let my spirit rest inside you, until I regain my powers."

Okay! That's better. "But who will protect the volcano in case Heatran comes back?" You ask.

"A Pokemon will soon be born here beneath the tree. That Pokemon will be its guardian." Moltres communicates. "It's a big decision, I know. Our hearts and minds will be li--"

"Yes." You blurt out, interrupting it. "What did you--" Moltres asks. "I said I will take you inside of me. Look, it's not totally selfless. I came here in the first place hoping to catch you. So what if it is with my chest instead of a Pokeball." You blurt out, but then it is your turn to blush as you realize what it is you said.

"Very well, dear Amber. Until I have recovered, we shall be as one." The legendary says, before spreading her wings and letting out a shriek before flying right at you and disappearing inside your chest, as your body begins growing warm.
