5PM rolled around and Jessie and Shauna were hiding behind a dumpster in the alleyway that ran behind the buildings.

“Jessie... don’t you think this is a little ****?” Shauna said “I mean... thinking about it, it makes a lot more sense he’d hang out with us instead of other boys.”

“Just trust me on this.” Was Jessie’s response.

“Look. I’m happy for him. Honestly. I thought he’d end up alone with an army of cats.”

“He’s allergic to pets” Jessie reminded him.

“You know what I mean.”

“Okay...” Jessie began “Tell you what, let’s make it interesting. How much you got in your wallet?”

“About $200.”

“$100 says this is a prank”

“Surprised you don’t want the whole thing?”

“I’m trying to be a little magnanimous in being right...”

“So does it count as me winning if he shows up, because, here comes Pat... holy...”

Patty felt a little self conscious as he walked down the alleyway to meet his date.

While he didn’t know his two friends were watching him, he still felt like all eyes were on him. He’s gone to their hotel and cleaned himself up. He was even wearing a skirt and some light makeup.

About ten minutes after five, the door to the restaurant opened and Billy stepped out.

“Hey sexy...” Billy said, looking Patty up and down. “Going all out to impress me are you?”

“Yeah...” Patty said with an emotional tone that sounded like a 50/50 mix of joy and terror. “I... I didn’t bring much with me so... I went shopping. What do you think?”

“I like it a lot...” Billy said with a smile.

Billy held up a bag.

“I got us a picnic dinner to share on the beach. Sound fun?”

“Totally” Patty said.

The two boys shared a kiss and walked, holding hands, towards the boardwalk and the beach. There was even a little extra sashay in Patty’s walk.

Shauna looked at Jessie, who was gobsmacked.

“Gal... Patty’s turned into a boy.” Jessie said

“So... about that $100...”
