Investigate that strange slime
You see that something isn't quite right about the water next to you. It's a little too green and opaque. You bend over to inspect it and poke it with a stick. The surface resists your prodding and undulates in willful ways.
The animate slime splashes some obtuse grasping appendage at you and you jump back to solid ground, and the gelatinous creature begins to ooze after you.
