There was a simple truth to real life: No two things could be equal.

As soon as you left the ideal fantasy land of pure numbers, things stopped fitting evenly on balance sheets. As soon as two things were different, one was inherently better than the other. Sure there could be trade-offs of pros and cons between two things but ultimately one would come out ahead.

From cars to clothes and from bodies to buddies the rule held. No two things could be equal.
