Into town

After breakfast, Lawmakers decided to walk into the nearby town. Once there they split into pairs. The parents wanted some time to themselves and wanted Nate and Selina to look after each other.

"Where do you wanna go?" asked Nate.

"I dunno."

"Mom and dad gave us some spending money. We could go shopping."

"Whatever."

In the store Nate found a pair of loud patterned shorts he liked. They drew lots of attention. They were also very cheaply made, with very swappable thread holding them together. He told his sister he was going to go try them on.

While waiting on her phone she spotted some people their age and they had noticed her too. She walked over to them.

“Hey.” she said.

They all looked at each other, then back at her.

“Hey,” one of them said. “Who are you?”

“I’m new. My parents are staying here for a while. Tell me, is there anything interesting to do around here.”

“That depends on what you mean by interesting.”

“I’m here with my brother, and we’re both above the age of eighteen.”

“That opens up some possibilities.”

“How about this, my brother is an exhibitionist. Like, he just streaked our campground last night, exhibitionist. Although, he doesn’t know I know he did that.”

“Woah.”

“Yeah.”

“You got a name?”

“Selina.”

“Well Selina, I’m Logan. This is my girlfriend Victoria. Those two are Gabriel and Lyla, they are an item as well. And that is Lucas.”

They all introduced themselves.

“So where is this brother of yours?”

“Trying on something in the changing room.”

“And you don’t mind embarrassing him?”

“Please, I do it all the time. And besides, he enjoys it. I’m doing him a favor.”

Nate came back looking for his sister.

“Oh hey Selina. Who are you all?”

“These are my new friends.” She said. “Everyone, this is my brother, Nate.” She turned to him. “They know places where lots of people go, right guys?”

“Oh yeah.” said Logan. “We got you covered.”

“You gonna buy those?” said his sister, pointing to the shorts.

“Wow, those are very colorful.” said Victoria.

“You don’t like them?”

“No, I think you should definitely buy those.”

“I don’t know. The last thing I want to do is draw attention to myself.”

“Don’t worry,” said Gabriel. “We’re all freaks around here. You’ll fit right in.”

“Okay.”

As Nate walked towards the cashier, Selina winked at her new friends.
