Inheritance

Taya looks over at Aaralon. "My grandfather died and left me his Book of Shadows." She looks back to the parchment, forgetting her lack of attire as she untangles herself from the sheets and stands. "He was a very quiet, caring man, but he never shared his work with anyone." Taya looks at Aaralon. "They'll be delivering the book this afternoon."

Aaralon sits on the edge of the bed, watching Taya. "Taya, I am so sorry. Is there anything I can do?"

Taya sighs, a small tear building in her eye as she sits down by Aaralon. He puts an arm around her as she whispers in a barely audible voice, "Hold me..."

The two lovers skipped their classes that day, Aaralon staying by Taya the whole day. When the book arrives, Taya immediately hands it to Aaralon. "I'm not ready yet. Can you hold this for me?" Aaralon nods, accepting the book. The pair walk to Aaralon's room to put the book up on Aaralon's bookshelf. Once the book was secure, Aaralon guides Taya to the dining hall, finally coaxing her to eating at least a few bits of food.

After eating, Taya and Aaralon walk hand in hand to the dorms. Taya pauses at the entrance to her hall. "Aaralon, I don't wanna sound weak... but do you mind if I stay with you for awhile? I just don't wanna be alone."

"Of course," Aaralon replies. With that Taya kisses Aaralon's cheek, then leaves to take a shower and get some clothes. With that Aaralon returns to his room, making sure it is clean and ready for Taya to stay. However, a soft voice seems to keep calling his name as he cleans the room and showers. And no matter where he walks, his eyes keep falling on Taya's book... the binding seems to glow and shimmer, begging to be touched, to be examined for just a second. Aaralon finds himself standing in front of the bookshelf, his hand mere inches from the grimore's spine.
