Does Aaralon open the book?
Touch the book
Aaralon hesitantly reached out for the book, his hand acting as if it had a mind of its own, and just as his fingers merely touched he binding of the book Aaralon felt a shock of strange and powerful magic run through him before all went dark.
Aaralon opened his eyes to a place of swirling mists and whispering voices; he had no idea where he was or how he got here from his room but wherever he was he didn't like it. Looking around Aaralon found nothing to judge where he was, the never ending thick fog kept swirling around him as he walked in no particular direction, the whispers never seeming to get any closer.
"Hello? Anyone out there?" Aaralon called out getting no response of any kind before he sighed in annoyance "great, I probably triggered some trap on the book and I'm stuck here for magic knows how long, man if I ever get out of here Taya is going to kill me" Aaralon muttered.
A sudden laugh behind him made Aaralon turn around and find a strange looking old man that was up to his shoulders in height, a rather large cane was being held in his hand as he adjusted his glasses with the other "my boy, you'll be lucky if she does only that" the old man said smiling.
Aaralon stared at the man a moment before breaking the silence " ok, who are you?" Aaralon asked only to get a whack on the head from the cane " hey!! What was that for you crazy old buzzard?" Aaralon yelled rubbing his head " oh get over it sonny and use that space in your head your so proud of to figure out what is going on" the old man replied earning a glare from Aaralon.
"How the seven hells am I supposed to know? One moment I'm in my room and the next I'm talking to a guy with a stick in a fog clouded mess!?"Aaralon yelled before a look of insight came to his face " hey wait a moment are you?"Aaralon began earning a smile from the old man " very good lad! Taya always said you were a smart one in her letters, such a good granddaughter" he mused to himself.
"Wait, if you're here?oh hell! I really am dead!" Aaralon yelled earning another whack on the head " wrong! Your not dead lad, merely a visitor between the world and the land of the dead" the old man said before becoming serious " I left a little spell on that book so when it called to you we could have a little talk"
Aaralon sighed again " fine I guess it's about Taya right??"Aaralon asked earning a smile from the old man "yes, she has been writing to me about you for quite sometime now, no doubt she told you about me after she found out about my... passing" getting a nod from Aaralon the old man continued "well I bet she didn't tell you what I've been working on now did she?"
Aaralon shrugged "she said you never shared you work, that was about it" the old man chuckled " yes I was rather stubborn about that, but I wont let it die with me either, so I'll let you have it?"Aaralon stared at him like her had grown a second head "your kidding me right?" the old man shook his head " no I am quite serious, Taya is very special to me, and you to her, and to protect her better I am going to use the last magic I have to put every spell, technique, and trick I know right into that thick head of yours," he said articulating each word with a point of his cane " if your lucky maybe you'll start seeing the future in visions like I used to when I was younger".
Aaralon was definitely surprised, the dead grandfather of the girl who loved him was going to give him everything her knew on a silver platter, but he knew better than that " what's the catch old man?" Aaralon asked getting a smirk from him "just keep her safe and happy for the rest of her life, after all she is a special girl and depending on how fate goes, she will need you more than you know" the old man replied making Aaralon smile " she sure is special, but I get the feeling there's more to it than that".
The old man sighed "Fine, my dear wife made me promised before she died that I make sure Taya was protected, I was never around as much as I wish I could be but I care for her dearly, so through you I keep my promise" he says before shouting into the mist like a mad man " you hear that Lilia! I'm coming to you with a clean conscience!"
Aaralon watched the old man laugh before turning back to him with a content sigh "Taya reminds me so much of her it's scary, hehe you actually look a lot like I was at your age now that I think about it, but I digress, I don't have much time left here and neither do you so is it a deal?" the old man asked before extending his hand. Aaralon looked at it his hand a moment before taking it firm in his own " deal!"
Aaralon blinked and found he was back in his room holding Taya's book in his hands and a slight headache as well. But he smiled as he thought up a spell he had never known before, and then another, and another, Aaralon stood there a bit just thinking how much fun these would be and how easy school would be for him and Taya now... then another spell came to his mind.
Unlike the others before this one was a sexual spell, Aaralon shook his head with a smirk after getting over his surprise "I guess I really did get everything huh?" he said to himself as he thought of several more explicit spells and incantations.
He heard the door to his room open and saw Taya standing there in a loose red nightgown looking at him with a smile "so? ready for bed?" she asks quietly and nervous.
