I hear a voice

I took my phone and wallet with me, ready to get the day over with so I could go back to my room, where no one would bother me.

Then I heard it.

“You're clever. Be proud of it. Use it”

I swiftly turn around. The voice came from the other side of the door, but I didn’t recognize it.

I stuck my head towards to the corridor. There was no one there. I asked “Someone there?”

I waited for a response but didn’t get one.

I shook my head and locked my alcove “Oh, great. Now I’m hearing voices”

“The secret lies within. I'm trapped. I'm kept inside the ore”

I whipped my head to the end of the hallway. I definitely heard it this time, and clearer too.

I ran to the end of the hallway and continued too listen. I wanted to find out where that voice was coming from. I wasn’t thinking about anything else. I couldn’t explain it, but at that moment nothing else mattered to me.

“In the dark, waiting. Always waiting”

I continued to chase the voice. I ended up going two decks down, going all the way to the cargo hold. That was were we kept all the luggage, documents and whatever father ended up buying on the trip.

I looked around for a bit, but it was pretty dark. I could barely see.

“And infinite fire. Burn with light. Burn in hearts”

I ran to where the voice came from. It was an old, like extremely old, box. It was sitting on the ground, the rusted metal somehow shining in the dark room.

“The last of that powerful and ancient linage”

The lock was rusty as well. Could I break it? I probably could... yes, I could.

“Leave behind the sad empty man”

I kneeled down and ran a finger over the lock. It would be so easy.

“Open the ore and summon me and receive my majesty”
