Chapter 13 by Zeebop Zeebop

What Is Blaze's Line To Get In The Door?

I've Got That Information You Wanted On The Missing Women

Lois Lane blinked. "What—I'm sorry, I'm not—I've got a blank period in my memory."

Angelica Blaze's eyes went wide. "So they got you too! Do you remember anything? Did you write yourself any notes?"

The reporter frowned, curious but instinctively distrustful. "Who is they?"

The tall woman looked left and right down the hallway. She leaned into the doorway.

"The men in black. The ones that work for LexCorp!" Angelica Blaze's eyes went wide, her whole body tense. "C'mon, I don't want to talk about this in the hall."

Distrust and curiosity warred together in the reporter's mind...but she was aware and warned against having sex. She stood aside and ushered the lanky woman into her kitchen, and closed the door behind her.

Up close, Lois could see how thin and bony this Angelica Blaze was...almost to the point of emaciation, but with the lean muscle of a marathoner, prominent cheekbones, and she held herself with an agitated poise, like someone on edge.

"Could I...bother you for a drink?" Angelica said, and Lois somehow knew she didn't mean coffee or tea. The reporter pulled the bottle of emergency vodka from the fridge, and a small glass. Two fingers, and Blaze tossed it back as though it was water.

"Men in black. LexCorp. Missing women," Lois said. But in her mind, one thing stood out. "What do you mean, 'they got me too?'"

Blaze licked her lips. Her dark eyes were very intense.

"Missing time, right? Can't remember earlier tonight, at the club? You were asking questions. The other women, that's how it started out. Hours they couldn't account for. We thought it was some asshole ****, roofieing women. A couple of us started to watch out for each other, you know? Except it kept happening. And it wasn't just missing time. The women, they'd go to the bathroom and they'd just be....gone. Nobody saw them leave. They just weren't there. Until a couple days later when they'd come back and we'd ask them, and they couldn't remember shit."

Angelica glanced at the bottle, and Lois poured her another finger, hoping not to give her too much. The tall woman grabbed the glass and drank it slowly this time, one long slip.

"So I...I was out in the alley, doing a deal right? And I saw these men in black taking a woman out back of the club...into a LexCorp cab. I followed them..." Blaze said, and Lois found herself hanging on every word, wanting to ask a million questions but holding back...and then she saw that Blaze's gaze had drifted lower, to where the reporter's robe had fallen open. Lois wanted to clutch it closed...but what Blaze said next caught her by surprise.

What does Blaze reveal?
