Where's an Orb landing?

Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy

(Beware of spoilers as early as this chapter - hard to write fanfic for this series without any, so if you plan on playing the game yourself, beware)

"Ugh, this is rough." Tsubasa took her sleeve and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Takumi had asked her and Gaku to come with him on this material gathering expedition, but so far, the only luck they'd had so far was fighting a lot of the School Invaders.

"OH COME ON! WHY ARE THERE SO MANY INVADERS AROUND!? WE'VE GATHERED, LIKE, NEXT TO NOTHING OUT HERE!"

Gaku's shout of frustration was on point this time, Tsubasa felt as she picked up some ore's they'd found and put them on the bus. She spared a moment to look at Gaku's minigun. His Class Weapon was practically begging her to take it apart, but he'd said no every time. Just like Takemaru with his motorcycle and Shouma with his freaking MECH! She'd considered trying to abduct one of them so she could get a close look at the machinery, but everyone else refused to help her. Pouting internally at the thought, she grabbed some more ore and carried it to the pile of materials they had gathered.

"There's no use complaining, Gaku." Takumi, their red haired leader, sighed in frustration as he materialized his katana. "We just got unlucky today."

Gaku continued complaining regardless, but Tsubasa decided to just tune it out. The haul hadn't been great, but it wasn't nothing. They had been running low on some of these ores, and...

Tsubasa's train of thought came to a halt as she spotted something beneath the last bit of ore. Reaching down and pulling it out, it looked like a small metal orb that she could carry in one hand, with three small tendrils coming off of it. It even had what appeared to resemble a camera lens. The sci-fi looking orb had also been damaged, the lens having been cracked and some portions of the tendrils missing some plating, exposing a handful of wires.

"I found something!" The tan skinned girl called out to her friends, the two of them walking over to see what she found. Takumi folded his harms as he looked at it. "What is it? It doesn't look like anything the Invaders have used thus far."

"Looks more like scrap to me." Gaku said, sighing as he looked away. "Probably wouldn't even get 500 yen at a pawn shop." Tsubasa clutched it closer to her ample chest at his words. "Well, regardless, I'm keeping this thing!" She shook her long blonde hair at Gaku. "I'm just dying to know what this thing is!" She looked at Takumi pleadingly, who just sighed. "I don't really see a problem. It could be useful for all we know." Tsubasa squeed in response and rushed back to the bus, getting in the driver seat and buckled herself in, her new project nestled neatly in her lap as she waited for the other two to board.

...

It was night by the time they made it back to Last Defense Academy. Takumi and Gaku opted to just deposit the ore and head to bed, but Tsubasa took the first opportunity she could head over to the weapons lab to start looking the little robot over. While she didn't understand everything about the little orb yet, it didn't take her long to figure out what components the main circuitry needed and start repairing the broken device. She did find a handful of tubes that traveled through the tendrils that came out of the device, but no matter what she did, she couldn't analyze what they would carry in or out of the device's main body.

As the clocks turned to midnight, Tsubasa had at least finished her external repairs, the orb looking almost brand new. "I really needed that. This war is definitely getting to me. How about tomorrow, we figure out what you're all about, Tommy." She patted the inactive orb affectionately before yawning loudly as she reclined into her chair.

Little did she realize, the orb was already active...

Tsubasa was suddenly woken from ‘resting her eyes’ by the sudden shout from the orb. “Wait, what-” Was all she managed to get out as the orb thrust its tendrils into her, injecting nanites via the repaired components the star mechanic had given it.

In a matter of moments, the drone had injected the last of its nanites loaded with its full database into the young girl, beginning to try and install the updates in her system to fulfill its purpose, rendering her **** once more.

Tsubasa suddenly roused from her sleep, her irises lighting up briefly without her notice. "Wow, must have dozed off. What time is it?"

*12:15*

"Well, I guess I just needed a catnap." She said to herself as she stretched, not noticing how she hadn't even needed to look at a clock to figure out the exact time. She looked over at the orb, noticing how its tentacles had been extended, stepping back slightly in surprise as they draped across the work bench. "When did that happen?" She was definitely alarmed by the fact that it had acti-

- that it had ceased functioning all together. How she knew that didn't seem very important for some reason. "Still, whatever it was, it could have been very helpful." She mused, pushing up her D-cup chest, not noticing how they had already become slightly larger, the red screw case she wore as a necklace resting neatly in her cleavage. "Maybe I can make more... they could probably help with the school invaders... Oh! Maybe the Gift-O-Matic could help make a lot of them! It would probably just require adding a bit to its database... and some upgrades... I hope Sirei won't mind." She said in a chipper tone as she grabbed a nearby multi-tool and headed off to the Rec room, the nanites inside her upgrading and learning as they continued their work.
