How can you tell?

Sally’s eyes flicker open. She looks at Peter and turns red.

“I’m so sorry, Peter. She made me...She cut her breast and held me there to drink. The worst part is how it...how it tasted.”

J.J looks at her. “I’m sure you’ll forget the taste over time.”

“Oh, I’ll never forget it. It tasted so good. It made me want more. It made me feel so wicked.”

Peter interrupts. “Are you sure you are going to be ok, Sally?”

“I don’t know, Peter. I wanted it so much.”

J.J. pulls out a small brass cross. “Take this Sally, it should help.”

She hands her the cross. Sally handles it gingerly as though she is expecting it to burn her, before slipping it on her neck.

“Sally, this is important. Did Hannah tell you where she got the wine?”

“It’s so hazy, I was so scared. I heard her talking. There was something about the Parkers, and something about the Kirks.”

Sally relaxes with the cross around her neck. She almost feels normal. Except...except they did more than just give her blood. They made her want blood. They made her want Peter. They made her want them. She is pretty sure if Becky or Hannah commanded her, she would obey.

“You should still leave me. I...I...can’t be trusted.”

J.J. looks her over. “We can’t leave you here Sally.”

She unties the ropes.

Peter mulls which of there former friends might still have some wine left.
