Hopefully a quick painless

As you near the entrance you quickly duck behind a stalagmite, hoping to catch your intruder off guard. "If you would step out from behind that stalagemite, that would make this a lot easier." A deep voice calls to you.

Well shit. If they could detect you, they either had dark vision or were extremely skilled, either way, you hope you respawn quickly.

You step forward, into the first cavern and see a single man sitting on the floor. He's dressed rather strangely, with a kind of plated armor and strange hat. At his side is a long blade, the sheath inlaid with a kind of beast design. You look over his head and freeze. His level has been replaced with three question marks and a star, leaving you extremely confused.

"If your going to kill me, at least make it quick, I've got other things to do today." You say, not even pulling out a knife. He turns his head towards you before standing up.

"Nah that's not why I'm here. You know you exist in a game right?" He says.

"To a degree. I know that hero's leave their avatars from time to time and that the world updates itself as well. A game you say?" You inquire.

"Indeed. Every monster, npc, river, tree, everything down to the last slime covered toadstool was created for this game. With a massive amount of randomness added in to spice it up." He explains.

"Why are you telling me this?" You ask.

"It's my job. I work for the game creators, we're called Admin's, and I have been instructed to survey the Reaquitor Mountains and document all the new boss's before boys uptop change things more." He says.

"Another update?" You ask.

"Kind of. We had a massive boom of new heroes show up when we teased the update, but they are only going towards the main area's that hero's go now. So a decision was made to keep those popular areas, but change the more remote and unpopular ones. These mountains don't see much action unless you want to try your hand at Beelzebub or Aornitus. So the rest of the mountains are getting an update." He explains.

"I see. What does that mean for me? And the other denizens of the area?"

"Well, you'll probably keep your waterfall and nymph friend, but the rest is uncertain. They could make it so that the forest is gone and is now a desert, or expand the mountain range, any number of concepts are available. Since you are built into the mountains, you will stay with them. Other's may be moved to similar area's or new area's that are being created."

"Now, let's pull up your stats sheet... Alright. Yazas Vrammagon. Hm interesting. Not got a whole lot done yet with your lair huh? Well not everybody gets things done similarly. Now thats odd, why is this considered a monster lair?" He asks himself. "Ah of course, you'll figure it out. Hm... your stats aren't the best, but you've only leveled up twice since the update. Main weapon missing? Why's that?" He asks, taking a glance away from his work.

"My spear broke during a fight with a Zombie Ogre." You explain.

"Ah, one of Andromeda's of course. She's a fierce woman that one." He says before returning to his menu work.

"Alright Yazas, things seem in order. Your now officially documented in the system. Expect any change to happen within 3-5 days." He explains. As he goes to exit your home he stops and turns back to you. "You know, I'm not supposed to do this, but I have an idea in mind." Suddenly a message appears before you.

Zero has issued you a challenge!

Withstand his **** for 1 minute to earn a prize!

"And you expect me to survive how, exactly?" You ask. You see him open a new window and slide something.

"I've temporarily set my level to 10, hard for you, but not impossible." He explains.

"Well, fuck it, I'm bound to die soon anyway. Sure, let's fight." You say as you duel weild your throwing knives. As soon as you accept, a timer appears in the air and starts to count down.

Zero unsheaths his sword, revealing it to be some kind of single sided blade. In an instant he is upon you, striking your side dealing some damage. You quickly parry the next few strikes but get caught once more on the arm. You watch as your health bar slowly goes down until your nearly dead. He suddenly pulls back and lunges at you in an in escapable attack. You close your eyes, waiting for ****, but it never comes. Slowly, you open your eyes, only to see his blade an inch from your chest. Above him, the timer is at 0.

"Not bad Yazas. You really got to work on your dual weilding though. And you didn't use either of your spells. But perhaps in the moment you only thought on what is immediatly before you." He says as he sheaths his sword. He pulls out a bag and hands it to you. "Welp, a deal is a deal, here ya go. Hopefully this will help you get stronger." He says before he casually opens your stone doors. "See ya around." And with that he's gone, teleporting away.

"Ow." You manage to say before falling down on your back. As you lay there bleeding you decide to see what you won.
