Chapter 3
by Superflie
What happens in Kraska?
His first quest
Kraska is only a halves day trip from Runswick. By the the time the sun is setting, Alesander and Arla are at the small towns entrance. Kraska is a town off of a main road to Larn. There's a few shops, an inn, and a huge tavern. Its a popular place for travelers to stop and get a restock for the couple of days it is until the next town before Larn.
The pair travel to a few of the shops, picking up a few items to aid them, a few potions, medicines, and some more rations. Then they make their way to the inn. When they arrive, the door swings open, and something is thrown out the door. A large man yells "If I see you in here again, I'll call the guard." Then slams the door. Alesander's eyes then travel to the small figure on the ground. He see a small green woman stand up and dust herself off. He recognizes her as a goblin, a race of small green humanoids that like to tinker. They have a large city called Gritzold, that's a large city full of technology. Goblins have it hard though, as they aren't trusted or liked much outside their own city.
"What are you looking at pretty boy?" The goblin scoffs at Alesander.
Alesander's was instantly curious about the goblin. They're were many different race in the adventuring school, but no goblins. "Are you okay?" Alesander sense of good takes over.
The small green woman looks at Alesander confused at first. "Making fun of me? Get lost." She huffs, turns around, and walks off. The two partners shrug and walk into the inn. There's a small lobby with two hallways. The same large man sit behind the counter. He's a burly hairy man that looks to be middle aged. He sits and carves a small piece of wood. When he hears the door open, he looks up. Unlike when they saw him kicking out the goblin, the mans face is bright with a smile. "Welcome to the Fronton Inn." The man stands up. Then his smile gets bigger. "Ah Hero Alesander, and his companion Arla. I'm honored to have you here." Most towns will know the twos faces. The land is magically notified whenever a new hero is titled.
Alesander smiles back at the man. "Thank you sir. It's a pleasure to be in your fine inn." Alesander returns the mans politeness. "We'd like a room for the night if any are open."
"There's always rooms for the heroes of Runswick." The man gestures towards the left hallway. "These are our finer rooms over here." The man then steps from behind the desk and leads the pair to a door. "This is our nicest room." He opens a door to a fairly normal looking room. "It's got our best sheets, and most comfy pillows. This bed is like sleeping on heaven." The man runs his hands down the mattress while he talks.
Alesander just smiles and nods. "Thank you again sir."
"If you need anything at all, I'm at the front desk until midnight. I'm sure I'll be busy tomorrow, with a hero having been here and all, so I'm sorry if I'm not around tomorrow morning." The man goes to turn and leave.
"Wait sir, may I ask a question." Alesander stops him.
"Of course hero." The man turns back around.
"The goblin woman, why was she kicked out?" Alesander showed concern on his face.
The big mans face contorts. "Bah, nasty little things goblins are. She came in here trying to find help for something, but goblins aren't to be trusted."
Alesander face showed concern for only a moment more. He didn't want to upset the man by asking anymore. "I see" is all he said. And with that the man turn and left.
With the man gone, Arla flew right to Alesander's face. "She needed help? Why don't people want to help her?" Arla questioned.
"Goblin's are seen as greedy and manipulative. Alot of people don't trust them." Alesander's voice is sad.
"We have to help her right? Isn't that what we do now that we're heroes?" Arla's face showed determination. "We're supposed to help all people who need help. Regardless."
"I agree, but now we just have to find her." Alesander pondered. After a bit of thinking Alesander gets an idea. "If she's looking for help, I'd imagine the most people are gonna be at the tavern."
Arla flies out the door. "Then come on then, let's go!" She screams back at Alesander.
Not to long after, the two open the door to the large tavern. It was bustling with patrons. People eating and drinking, and most people seem to be having a good time. Even through all the commotion, Alesander immediately hears yelling from the back of the room. He hastily walks up to the noise to see the small woman surrounded by three large men. Each one scream different insults at her. "Green whore, tiny pointed eared slut" and so on.
Alesander's instincts kick in and her runs forward to the goblins aid. "Three men against one woman. Seems unfair." He screams at them.
The largest man spins around and stares at who ever dared to yell at him. He's at least a foot taller then Alesander. The man stares into his eyes, "And you're gonna even it up?" The man snorts. Then he raises his fist up at Alesander. When he brings it down, Alesander is gone and the fist collides with the table behind him. The man spins around to find him but doesn't get a second look at the hero before Alesanders leg connects with the side of the mans head. Despite the size difference, the kick sends the man over the table. With Alesander now in between all three men, they rush him all at once. But again Alesander is to fast and the men all collide. Then finally, a small glow seems to spin around the three before the light becomes solid and the men are bound. Arla then flies into the larger mans face and sticks out her tongue. "You little bitch, you think this will hold me?" The man begins to struggle. But before the binds can be tested, Alesander's sword handle slams into all three of their heads, leaving them completely unconsious.
Arla flies around Alesander cheering, celebrating the twos first fight and victory. "You were so awesome Al! We make the best team.!" Arla screams while pumping her fist.
Alesander smiles. "So were you, I didn't know you could bind people." He praises her.
"I learned that spell because heroes shouldn't have to kill if they don't have to." Arla put on a serious face for only a moment.
The two were to into celebrating, they almost forgot why they had fought. Alesander turns to the goblin, who is curled up trying to make sure she wasn't caught in the crossfire. Alesander walks up and puts his hand out. "Are you okay?" He asks the same question he asked her when they met at the inn. Only this time, the goblin doesn't have an attitude. Instead taking his hand. Alesander helps her up.
"Thank you." The goblins voice shakes.
"I'm just happy you're okay." Alesander looks down at the woman, then immediately looks away, face red. He hadn't noticed til now that the woman's shirt was torn. One of her breasts hanging out.
The woman covers herself when she sees Alesander's red face. "Yeah..." They stand there awkwardly.
Then Arla swoops in. "We're here to help!" She shouts, not reading the situation.
The goblins eyes then fall to the tiny flying creature. "Help huh? Maybe first by finding me something to cover myself?" The goblins attitude starts to rise again.
Then Arla flies around the girl a few times and then a light glows like with the three guys, but this time the goblins clothes are fixed. "Bam! How do you like that?" Arla smiles victoriously.
The goblin looks down confused, then back up to the fairy. "Wow..."
With the tension broken. The goblin walks over to a table sits. Alesander follows. "So we heard you need help." He sits down.
"Yeah, and why would you care?" She dismisses him with a hand wave.
"Because I want to help people. It's what heroes do." Alesander smiles.
"A hero huh?" The little woman looks down, an uncharacteristic sadness crosses her face. "You'd even help a goblin?" She keeps her head down.
"Of course I would." He tries to comfort her.
Then she burst into tears. "My sister, she's been taken." She barely gets out her words through her tears.
The goblins sobs and tries to tell Alesander what she can. Her name is Bella, she and her sister, Jussia, came into town to get supplies on their way to Runswick. Her sister was going to the adventuring school, while Bella just wanted to support her and make sure she got there safe. The two were kicked out of the inn when they tried to stay, so they camped just outside of town. They were ambushed by some men and Jussia was taken, while managed to run away. The small woman cried because she couldn't protect her sister. Now she's tried everything she can to get someone to help, but no one cared what happened. Alesander was the first one to show her any sympathy.
The three sat at the table, while Bella started to calm down, and Arla sobbed from the sad story. Alesander was sad, but knew he had to be strong to help her. "Well, then we leave now, there's no time to waste." Alesander stood up with gusto.
"You're really gonna help me?" Bella looked up.
Alesander put his hand out again for the goblin. "I'd never turn down someone in need." He smiled.
"Where do we begin?" Arla looks at Alesander.
Where do they begin their search?
