Chapter 57 by Relator10 Relator10

What is the name of your adventurer?

Hiroki

Name: Hiroki
Race: Beastkind (mouse)
Age: 45
Class: Fighter
Rank: C

Description:
Hiroki is a toned 5ft7 fair-skinned Mouse Beastkind with mouse ears and tail in the same colour. He has blond hair and expressive eyes. He likes to wear chainmail but he can also don a cuirass with gorget, spaulders and braces. But if necessary he may even don a full assortment of plate armour, or picking up a few pointers about stealth from his partner a good leather armour in combination with some of the above.
What he really took to heart from his parent and parents-in-law was that even the lowest rank can make a difference. Hence he purposely opened his guild to Beastkind of all ranks. Whether by education or birth, he likes to think things through.

Biography:
Hiroki was born in the town of Shinrin of two E rank adventurers. Shinrin got his renown because it was the seat of the Daimyo of the Inako region. As the Inako region was a rural countryside region situated away from the capital region of Askari, simply being an adventurer was already a boon. After all, the high-ranking adventurers were creamed off by the capital institutions of the Askari region.

He grew up in a mostly adventurers kids' daycare run by his mom Rumiko. He would often listen as she told stories about the adventures she got into as a member of the Daiymo’s messenger corps. One of those stories was how his parents met.

As it was, the system allowed Rumiko, an E rank Rogue, to secure a job of some prestige gaining a certain status in society. As she presented herself as a newly awakened adventurer at the local Daimyo’s palace Rumiko got enlisted as part of the Daimyo’s messenger corps. Usually, Rumiko was to give a report of her travels to the towns and villages of the Inako region at the messenger corps office. Sometimes however Rumiko was also asked to liaison with the city guard and it was there that she met a male city guard called Riko. Eventually, they got to talking. As it turned out, Riko was an E rank Fighter and due to the system, he got assigned to the city guard. And in time they got romantically involved.

As Hiroki got a bit older, he and the other kids would play games conceived by his mom. Using her experience as Rogue she would devise games to make them more consciously aware of their surroundings. Later on, his father would tell him about the way of the sword and teach him the art of swordplay. As novice however, he had to start with mastering the hanbo, a staff weapon about the same size as an average sword. When he became proficient enough in handling the hanbo, they would teach him to bend as the wind or stand firm as a rock as they put it. Being able to dodge or block an attack was a valuable ability whatever class he would end up with.

It was also at the daycare that Hiroki first met his future wife, a daughter of a befriended couple. Mieko, as she was called, came to the daycare while her mom worked at the palace. As they seemed to match they became engaged and in due time they were exchanging vows.

Likewise, growing up among mostly adventurers and their kids, not going to the capital for their own awakening ceremony wasn’t even a topic.

When the day of the departure to the capital came around for Hiroki and Mieko, they joined a caravan to Bonsatu. Along the way, he talked about what he would do after his awakening. When he returned as a C rank Fighter his parents couldn’t be more proud. The Daimyo was also more than happy to enlist a C rank fighter for his regional corps.

Likewise, both families were delighted as some time later Mieko got pregnant and Hiroki became father of little Mimizu.

After years of loyal duty to the Daimyo's regional corps of the Inako region, and in the wake of Mizuki The Elementalist, Hiroki decided to try his luck in the human capital of Riledo, joined by his wife Mieko and daughter Mimizu. So, It was with mixed feelings on both sides that Hiroki, Mieko and little Mimizu eventually said goodbye to family and friends when they left for Riledo, the human capital.

Arriving in Riledo, Hiroki was able to work as an auxiliary for the Gryphon Knights. Thanks to a generous gift from the Daimyo, he and his partner were able to purchase a home at the edge of Gryphon Knight territory. In time, more Beastkind joined him so he was able to form his own adventurers' group and after a while even a proper guild. And so the Kedamono Brigade came to be. They always kept a good report with the Gryphon Knights as they were neighbours after all. Because each guild worthy of the name needs a sign to identify their members, he chose a red tanto knife, in honour of his birthland tradition, as hallmark of the Kedamono’s Brigade.

In time, rumors spread about an all-Beastkind guild of good repute. Even back to the Beastkind Nation until it finally reached his family and friends, who couldn’t be more proud of what he and his partner had accomplished. Although his wife would regularly scout for new talent, now newly awakened Beastkind of almost all ranks started to present themselves at the guildhall.

Skills:
Skill 1: Thrill for combat – Hiroki’s senses and reaction speed increase so he becomes capable of dodging, blocking and deflecting all incoming attacks
Skill 2: Endure - Hiroki can withstand large amounts of physical pain
Skill 3: Dauntless - Hiroki is immune to fear (including fear spells)
Skill 4: Dual wield - Hiroki is able to wield two axes, daggers, hammers or short swords at once

Equipment:
After getting the [Dual wield] skill he concentrated on dual sword techniques. Hence he caries a katana and wakizashi (short sword). Hanbo ( staff weapon - 1 m). Chainmail ( plate mail or leather ). Red tanto knife (functional but mostly ornamental, personalised)
