"Girl For Hire" is the story of guy who makes a living becoming women to provide companionship for men, who falls for her latest client when he asks her for something she's never provided. She's starting to believe in love at first sight, but is it all real or is he hiding some dark secret?

Thank you and I hope you're enjoying Chapter Eight of My Second Chance!

"Admit it's a possibility," he clarifies, "Don't get ahead of yourself here. Admit that maybe you're telling the truth, because even if you do sound insane there is at least a chance that you're telling the truth. You're not wrong about that."

"Fine, I'll take it."

"That doesn't mean you don't have any holes in your story, because you do. There are things that still don't make any sense."

"Like what?" I ask, knowing that there is likely more than one.

"We were friends?" he asks, "The last time around. In the... is it the past or the future?"

I shrug, "Fucked if I know. Whole thing is fucked up anyway."

"Well then whenever," he goes on, "The other time. We were friends then?"

"Yeah," I nod, "We were friends."

"So what's different this time? Why aren't we friends now, because we definitely aren't."

I don't know how I thought I could get away with not saying this. And I don't know how I think that saying it under my breath is going to help me get away with it.

"I was a guy."

A beat. Three steps. He clears his throat.

"See what I thought I heard you just say is that-"

"I was a guy," I cut him off, a little louder now but still hissing my words, "The last time... The first time around. I was a guy and you were a guy and..."

"I get it," he gives me a bit of clemency and he gives me a shrug.

"You do?"

He shrugs again, "Yeah. I mean if you were a guy then I probably wouldn't have reacted the way I did when you caught me in the trust fall. I wouldn't have been so negative about you talking to me about that book. I would have... given you a chance."

We stop as a group again. Boy-Kim launches into another story up in the distance and I give it a half-hearted listen before I needle Eddie a little.

"You're willing to admit that you're an asshole?" I say.

He snorts, "I'm willing to admit to the possibility."
