Chapter 36
by
WaspWoman
Will he?
He'll try
"Yes, I think I might." Spider-Man stated contemplatively. Yes, it worked! He was finally moving on from MJ, now she just had to convince him she was the right replacement.
"Well then, what are you going to do now?" Cat asked playfully, resting her head on one of her hands thoughtfully. He stood up, breathing deeply as he looked out over the city.
"I have an idea." He said thoughtfully, turning to face Cat. Even though she couldn't see his face under his mask, she could swear he was smiling. He spun around, so that his back was to the edge of the building, "Follow me."
He then tilted his body backwards, falling off the edge of the roof. Cat quickly jumped to her feet and dove off the building after him, where she saw him looking back up at her as he fell, looking like he was lounging on a couch, with his feet crossed and arms behind his head. Cat's swan dive meant she fell faster and quickly caught up to him, spreading out her arms and legs to slow down and match his speed.
"Where are we going?" Cat asked over the rushing wind of them falling.
"Spoilers." He joked, using her own reply against her. She smiled, good to see he was indeed enjoying himself.
Suddenly, he fired a web and swung away, turning around the corner. Cat quickly pulled out her grappling hook and used it to swing after him, but when she turned the corner, she couldn't see him. Shit! She'd lost him, where the-
"Come on!" His voice called out. Cat spun her head in the direction of it, and saw him behind her, running along a rooftop. Cat quickly changed her direction, using her grappling hook to land on the roof he was on. She swore she didn't see anyone on that roof when she'd passed it, he must've hidden after turning the corner, so he could tease her now. Was he getting **** on her, for leading him through the city moments before? She smirked at the thought as she chased after him.
The two made their way through the city, continuing to swing and jump between the buildings, having fun as they did, until they landed on the roof of a building opposite the Daily Bugle.
"Ta-da!" Spider-Man sung as he gestured with both hands at the building, like he was revealing something spectacular.
"The Daily Bugle?" Cat asked, unimpressed. Why would he take her there?
"No need to sound so enthusiastic." Spider-Man joked, walking around her, "I just thought, based on your advice, that I should finally visit my biggest fan in person, and thought you might enjoy watching the fireworks."
"Oh, really now?" Cat asked curiously, cocking one eyebrow, "I admit, that does sound fun, so I'll bite. What's the plan?"
"For you to just sit back and enjoy." He said, pressing gently down on her shoulders to encourage her to sit, which she did, "Damn, should've got you some popcorn on the way here. Oh well, you'll just have to survive without. Enjoy the show, it's about to start."
And, with that, he leapt off the roof and swung over to the opposite building, opening a window to an office on the top level, and climbing inside. He grabbed one of the newspapers on the desk as well as a pen and wrote something on it, that Cat couldn't see, before lounging in the chair behind the desk. Then, they both waited.
How does it go?
