Halfling history

The two of you walk over to the living area, so that Mazzy can gather up her belongings. Along the way, she talks constantly, explaining more about her and her people. You listen far more intently than you did with Edward, both because what she’s saying is new and interesting, and because she is far more pleasant to listen to. Mazzy has a lovely voice, almost musical to your ears.

She explains that halflings tend to live among human cities, mostly for safety. Being as small as they are, it’s easier to get by in a city than in the wilderness. Mazzy also mentions that some halflings pretend to be human children, hiding their ears and begging to make a living. She herself never did that, both because she found it degrading and because she’s far too well developed to pass as a child. A sly smile accompanies that remark, and you can’t help but chuckle.

She goes on to say that she learned to cook early on, and like most of her kind has a passion for good food and drink. Before coming through the portal, she worked as a cook, but upon hearing of the ‘new world’, as she describes it, she lept at the chance for a new adventure.

“And now I’m here, and we’re here!”

Mazzy gestures towards a small but comfortable looking room. “This is my place. Just a few minutes, I’ll pack my things!”

As she moves around the room, rapidly packing her clothes and few belongings, you stay out of the way and simply watch her. She really does look like a beautiful woman simply shrunk to a smaller size. Mazzy hums a tune, occasionally glancing back at you and smiling.

You realize that you’re staring. “So, out of curiosity, why are you so eager to have me as your sponsor?”

Mazzy pauses. “Well, every application sent in is available for viewing by all the girls here. Yours was especially interesting because you’re not rich.”

You chuckle. “That’s true, but why is that important to you?”

Mazzy shrugs. “I don’t want to be a toy, or a trophy. If I go with some rich guy, what can I offer them besides my body?”

You nod. “Fair enough. Still, you seemed so happy when you saw me.”

Mazzy giggles. “Well, there’s a couple things. First, you’re cute, which is great! Second, you looked me right in the eyes when I walked in. That’s a big deal, especially since I’m dressed to show off!”

She does a little twirl, and you have to admit, she looks good in her outfit. Mazzy winks. “It’s ok to look, I don’t mind. But the biggest thing is difficult to describe. As soon as I saw you, I felt a connection. Like this was exactly what I was looking for.”

You nod. “I know that the bond is a real thing, but are you saying it’s already happening?”

Mazzy laughs. “Of course! And as long as you keep being a good man, it’ll only get stronger.”

She goes back to packing, and you think about that. Things are moving quickly, but like she said, it DOES feel right. While you’re thinking, Mazzy finishes packing, and bounces over to you.

“All set! Take me home, Brian! And get down here so I can kiss you!”
