Exiting the AWIO

Shouldering Mazzy’s bags, the two of you make your way back out of the building. Along the way you catch glimpses of other monster girls. Some watch as you walk by, with expressions ranging from jealousy to dispassionate observation. Among others, you see a lamia, a wolf girl, and some kind of bird woman. It seems there’s quite a variety of monster girls looking to make new lives here.

Finally outside, Mazzy skips alongside you as you lead her to your car. She doesn’t appear intimidated by the vehicle, despite likely having little experience with technology. In fact, she seems excited. Curious, you ask her about it.

“So, how much do you know about this world? I don’t know how much they taught you.”

Mazzy smiles. “Well, I’ve had a lot of classes, but bigger stuff like cars isn’t exactly something we can learn in a classroom. I find it all fascinating, though! You can do so much in a kitchen, it’s great!”

You laugh. “You really love food, huh?”

She giggles. “Food and cooking and eating and drinking! It’s all wonderful, and I’m looking forward to trying all the new foods your world has to offer. One of the things we learned was computer stuff, and I made them show me how to find recipes!”

You heft her bags into your car. “Well, I’m not much of a cook, unfortunately, but I’ll definitely help you find anything you need.”

Mazzy claps her hands and bounces excitedly. “Yay! And don’t worry about not being a cook, you have me now, I’ll take care of that! I told you, I don’t want to be decorative, or a bed warmer. I want to help, and feel useful!”

You chuckle, opening the car door for her. She climbs in, and you smile as you close the door and get in yourself. As you start the car and pull away, Mazzy watches out the window. As you leave the parking lot, she sighs.

“It’s weird to leave. I’ve been here a few months, but it didn’t feel real until now. I made some friends at the AWIO, but I can’t feel sad about leaving, I’m too excited!”

You nod. “I’m glad you’re excited, Mazzy. It’s all been a whirlwind for me. I never expected this to happen so quickly, I didn’t prepare anything. I don’t even have a place for you to sleep!”

Mazzy rolls her eyes and laughs. “Oh Brian, you’re so cute! If you think I’m sleeping anywhere except cuddled up to you, you’re crazy. I know human relationships usually go pretty slow, but us monster girls move quickly. And trust me, you’ll love it my way!”

Mazzy bats her purple eyes at you, and you can’t help but laugh. “Fair enough. I just don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”

Mazzy shakes her head. “Don’t worry, I’ll be quite vocal about it if you do.”

You nod. “Fair enough. Obviously I’m still new to this.”

Mazzy reaches over and rests a small hand on your leg.
