Go outside

Zack decided to go for a walk outside and explore the cabin's surroundings alone. Walking through the living room, he flashed a grumpy-looking Gavin a wave and stepped out of the front door.

It was an unseasonably cold day, though thankfully the forecast predicted it warming up considerably over the next few days, so Zack didn't want to stray far. He opted instead to walk around the deck of the cabin, getting a better idea of the scale of the building and a better view of the surroundings.

The cabin was deep in the forest and felt very isolated, but a well-worn hiking trail passed right by and Heather had told him there were a number of other cabins nearby, presumably hidden by the trees. The path down to the lake branched off a few hundred yards down the main trail, and Zack looked forward to a good swim when the weather warmed up a little.

After taking a deep, bracing breath of the fresh open air, he started to stroll around the deck. He glanced in Gavin and Kurt's window as he passed, where Kurt lay on his bed flipping through some men's magazine or other, with pictures of scantily-clad women draped over supercars and the like.

As he rounded the corner, he saw steam coming from one of the vents, by what he thought was Heather and Victoria's room. When he got to their window, the curtains were closed, but light shone through a narrow crack in the middle. It couldn't hurt to just look what his crush was doing, right?
