Chapter 3 by IronLacedCarbon IronLacedCarbon

What’s next?

Game, Set, Start

The Abernathy Household was alive with activity on one fateful Saturday evening.

Ashley, the matriarch of the household, had started a big pot of stew with a few sides, and now they were all now gathering into the living room for a family activity.

That night’s activity looked like an off-brand version of Trivial Pursuit, one that the family had never played.

When Rudy was sent up to the attic to retrieve a game, the young man stumbled upon the small box of cards in confusion. It was covered in dust, but he’d never seen it before. Or maybe he had? Rudy wasn’t sure. Either way, he didn’t have any memories of playing a game called “Transformation Trivia”, and the name was unique enough for Rudy to come downstairs and present it to his mother.

She shared a similar reaction, and after asking the rest of their family about it, none of them seemed to know where it came from, but they all decided that it would be best to try something new anyway.

After all, they had a family night like that one at least once a month, so most of them were burnt out on the usual picks.

Ashley and her husband Don took their seats on opposite ends of the couch, Rudy began straightening the single deck of cards on the coffee table across from them, his sisters each took a seat and grabbed the box that held the cards and began to read the instructions, and old man Fred slowly took a seat in the recliner next to Ashley’s side of the couch with a hot mug of whiskey-spiked coffee in his semi-translucent hands.

As soon as the box was opened, something strange happened.

Nobody was quite sure what, if anything, had actually taken place at that moment, but everyone exchanged confused glances before shrugging it off.

Inside the box was a single blank card, which Cleo and Rudy were examining as Max read the instructions from inside the box’s lid.

“Welcome to Transformation Trivia, a game that’s fun for the whole family!

The rules are simple:

A single magical card is passed around by the group.

When the first player is ready to start, they must hold the card and say ‘Ready’, then pass the card to the person on their left.

A question and its category will appear on the card.

After the first player answers, the result of their answer will appear on the card for the person on their left to read, as well as a transformation that they’ll be undergoing.

Once the person on their left is finished reading, the transformation will take place, and the person who read the card will pass it on to their left, becoming the second player.

Repeat this until three complete rotations, or if the rotations change between rounds, each person needs to have answered three questions.

Round 1: Physical Transformations

Round 2: Mental Transformations

Round 3: Reality Transformations

Be wary, certain rounds will result in a Frenzy card, which may cause the entire group to undergo a transformation during that turn.

Whoever has the highest count of correct answers by the end will be our lucky winner.

If there is more than one winner, then they will undergo a special transformation of their own.

There can be only one winner, after all.

Have fun!”

“Huh…” Rudy said, holding the blank black playing card up towards the light. "I bet this is some kind of imagination game, or something. Maybe charades, like we have to act out what we're supposed to 'transform' into."

“I guess we'll find out, won't we?” Cleo shrugged, crossing her legs and leaning back on the floor.

“If it's anything like that, Rudy can run back upstairs and grab another game.” Ashley said with a nod, which caused him to roll his eyes. "I never liked charades."

“Or, we could just watch the Cowboys stomp the Packers?” Don half-heartedly suggested, which got him a sharp look from his wife. “Just kidding.”

“I don’t know. Sounds good to me.” Grandpa Fred said from his recliner on Ashley’s left.

“C’mon dad, no need to be such a stick in the mud.” Ashley sighed. “You used to love these kinds of games!”

“I still do, but I also want to see Green Bay get fucked into the dirt.” The old man chuckled.

“Amen, brother.” Don raised his beer. “Dallas all the way.”

Fred raised his mug for a long distance air-toast.

It was Ashley's turn to roll her eyes.

“Hang on, there’s something else on the outside of the box…” Squinting, Max began reading the very fine print hidden around the edge of the card’s container.

“CAUTION: Opening this box will send out a short-range electromagnetic pulse that alters the perception of everyone within proximity. Doing so causes the participants of this game to have no qualms about ****, any sort of sexual act in general, the gender of any sexual partner, and will be indifferent to any changes they may have once considered to be undesirable. Proceed at your own discretion.”

Everyone was quiet for a moment after that before people started exchanging glances.

“That’s, uh… something?” Ashley said, scratching her head. “Does anyone feel different?”

“A little bit, now that you mention it.” Cleo said, glancing at her brother. “If Rudy whipped his dick out in my face, I’d probably suck it.”

Rudy’s eyebrows raised and a surprised smirk appeared on his face.

“Of course you would.” Max rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “That’s just your bimbo reflex talking.”

“Hey!”

“Enough, girls.” Ashley said sternly, then looked at Rudy. “Honey, would you let Cleo suck your dick?”

“Sure.” The young man shrugged, uncrossing his legs so he could begin unzipping his pants. “You don’t have to ask me twi-”

“Stop!” Ashley said, raising her hand as she began to blush.

Everyone turned to look at her with confused expressions, and after a moment she felt silly for stopping him.

She knew that what her son and daughter were about to do was wrong, but Ashley felt as though she’d actually stopped them from sharing a platonic hug.

“Well, this is weird.” Max said, her eyes drifting towards Don.

Don met her gaze and they stared at each other for an awkward moment before he smirked at her.

She smirked too.

Ashley briefly noticed this, but didn’t show any signs of a reaction.

“So, who’s going first?” Fred asked with a sigh.
