Fuu Squares things away with the Midnight Duckling

"Fuu!" Robin's voice calling out from a ways down the bustling docks broke the two women out of their shared moment. Fuu glanced up to see her young friend jumping up and down and waving from a ways off, while a man next to her waited patiently. He was tall, broad chested, with a large square chin hidden behind a full beard, and enough scars to mark down what must have been many years of dangerous living. His expression seemed kind enough, but Fuu sensed a calculating mind behind his eyes, the sort that could never truly be trusted entirely.

"A pleasure, friend." the man said, nodding at Fuu as she approached. "I've heard good things about your company-- some from your friend here and some from trustworthy members of my own crew."

He extended a hand and Fuu took it firmly. She held his gaze with equal pleasantness, but enough distance to make it clear that he didn't hold anything over her. "A pleasure indeed. My name if Fuu Teoming, of the Bravos Feminine. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"They call me Peregrine Darby, captain and commander of the Midnight Duckling," his eyes glimmered with a spark of mirth at the name. Fuu smiled back politely. "If you're any good with your blades, and your mark is who I've been told it is, then I think we have grounds to do some business."

Fuu nodded. "We're hunting the Million Banshees. They have something of ours which we will see returned to us."

"And the biggest bounty in the entire eastern ocean, or damn close." Peregrine added, his expression suddenly much more serious. "Even my Duckling would need some more steady hands to take them on, but... good mercenaries are a dime a dozen. If I asked, half the men in this port would drop whatever they were doing for a shot at a cut of the Banshee's bounty."

Fuu could tell where he was going. Any captain worth his salt would take any advantage he could, at all times... naturally. "We won't be needing any of that." she said. "The gold is for you and your men to do with as you see fit. All we're after is a book they've got on board." Liv wouldn't like the answer, but it should appease him.

"Well who could turn down free help?" Peregrine's face spread into a smile once again. "You'll need to prove yourselves first of course-- to me and the crew; I'm not about to go leading a bunch of greenhorns to their ****, and the crew will want to... get to know you all. We can set sail as soon as yer all settled in, no sense in wasting time when there's pirates to be hunting."

He turned, and nodded to no one in particular and began walking toward a nearby ship. Seemingly out of nowhere, several men whom Fuu had taken to be just random passers-by turned to follow him.

"Go with him, I'll catch up when I've gathered up the others." Fuu instructed Robin, then turned to set about doing exactly that.
