From Birth

Both of your parents were Lycan, and were not at all surprised when you carried the blood. You grew up in a small northern village where other Lycanthropes and non-humans stuck together for safety against human raiders.

Lycan children are typically quite incompatible with human society. Something about their brain chemistry is intrinsically different, and without knowing the extent to which this must be hidden, many are quickly discovered.

This comes at no surprise to those who have met natural born Lycanthropes. More often than not they remain in a form not unlike that of a wolf pup in the wild, and find the human form uncomfortably ****.

Life was good in the village, but human raids were a regular occurrence.

After a raid in your 8th year, you saw a childhood friend hanging from a tall oak tree. You never forgot how his face was twisted with fear, and how his lower half stopped mid-transformation when his neck snapped. How he died only partially clothed, the humans having taken him from his bed during the night.

Nobody is sure of where the first Lycans originated, but you are sure of your own heritage.
