Freeform
Freeform role-playing games, also called freeforms, are a type of role-playing game which employ informal or simplified rule sets.
Here is a simple freeform narrative role-playing game (RPG) system:
Setting: Players establish the setting, including the time period, location, and overarching plot.
Characters: Players create their characters by describing their appearance, personality, background, and goals. There are no set attributes or abilities, and character development is driven by the events of the game.
Gameplay: Players are presented with a scenario, and take turns describing the actions of their characters. The players face challenges of varying difficulties, and use their characters' skills, wits, and creativity to overcome them.
Conflict resolution: Conflicts are resolved through dialogue and creative problem-solving. Dice rolls or other random mechanics may be used to add an element of chance, but the focus is on the characters and their actions, not the mechanics.
Improvisation: Freeform RPGs emphasize improvisation and creativity, with players encouraged to think outside the box and come up with unexpected solutions to challenges.
Storytelling: The goal of the game is to create a compelling story together, with the players working together to create a rich and exciting narrative. The players' choices and actions drive the plot, and the story evolves organically as the game progresses.
