Flirtatious forging

Very quickly you feel like you’re out of your depth, as everyone gets to work. It seems that Helja and Hayley have done similar projects before, as they begin assigning tasks immediately. Hayley grabs Marin and begins setting up to make a sword, as Helja and Sanni begin design work on a crossbow of some kind.

Unsure how to help, you do your best to aid Hayley. Mostly, you stay out of the way as she explains what she wants. “We’re going to cheat this a bit, Greg. Well, not cheat, but we’re going to take advantage of your powers to cut some corners.”

Marin grins as she sets some metal in the forge which Hayley has fired up. The tiger girl chuckles. “It’s easy to forget, dwarves seem to grow up making weapons. This is second nature to them.”

Hayley giggles. “I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t true, at least for me. My grandparents ran a forge, and I learned some things. But like I said, we’re cutting a couple corners. I’m going to rough out a sword blade, but we’re using Greg’s power to finish it.”

You nod. “Makes sense, although that’s putting a lot of trust in my powers.”

Hayley winks at you. “Don’t worry, it’ll work out. And we’ll reward you if you do well!”

You blink in surprise, and Marin laughs. “Now he’s all distracted!”

You chuckle. “I’d say motivated is a better word!”

Hayley laughs and is about to respond when Helja calls out to your trio. “Hey, save the flirting for when you’re finished!”

She tries to sound serious, but you can hear the laughter in her voice, and beside her Sanni is grinning. You give them a thumbs up, and Helja laughs. You turn back to your group, smiling to yourself.
