Finally Friday

You wake up the next morning and everything feels completely normal. Your wife is up already, and just stepping out of the bathroom, her hair wet and a towel around her glistening body. She gives you a smile as you pass by, stepping in the bathroom and stripping down for your own shower. Nothing feels different about today but you know that it won't be like any other day so far. Today is Friday. Tonight all of your plans come to fruition.

First of all, you need to contact Kali. You haven't really spoken to her all week, but now that you finally have some idea of where you're taking her you want to let her know what the plan is. You brought your own phone into the bathroom with you, because you know how tempted you've been to look at your wife's phone lately. You don't want her thinking the same and seeing your messages to Matt. But for now, you just enjoy your shower and text Kali when you step back into the bedroom.

You towel off quickly, and step up to the bedroom door, listening for your wife downstairs. You can hear her humming cheerily as she makes coffee and breakfast, so you decide now is a good time. Still naked and a little wet you hastily type out a text to your best friend's girlfriend.

You: hi kali just wanted 2 let u kno were meeting at wicked felina 2nite 7pm

You're arranging your date for the exact same time as Matt's date with your wife so they can happen simultaneously. You continue to towel off and pull on your underwear and pants as you wait for Kali's reply.

Kali: i have a late client do u mind if I come round 2 urs b4 hand to change n we can go from there 2gether?

You: yes sure that sounds great

Going to the taco bar together seems like a great way to spend a little extra time in each other's company which should really help your chances. You're looking forward to tonight so much you can't wait for the rest of your day to be done, but you still have to go to work for now.

You finish dressing, putting on your shirt and tie, before another text comes through.

Kali: wonderful thanks! c u 2night

You pull on your jacket and shoes and try not to smile too brightly as you head downstairs. As you walk off the bottom step, your wife flies past you.

"What were you doing?" she asks but doesn't stop for an answer. "You're going to be late."

I look at my watch as she whizzes out the door and realize that she's right. I forgo breakfast and put my coffee into a travel mug, then hurry off to work.
