Fill up the gas

"I'll go into the store," said Nate's father.

"I'm going to use the bathroom," said his mother.

"I have to go too," said his sister.

"That leaves you for the gas," his father said to him. "Fill it up and then park up front."

And--before Nate could pretend to protest, to say that they could just refuel when everyone got back--every one quickly exited the car, leaving Nate sitting in the back eat with the keys in the engine, and he was expected to have the car ready to go by the time they got back.
