"Are you alright with Warden letching on us?" you ask Fay. "And should I push hard or play it safe?"

Fay rolls her eyes at you. "I am," she says, "But I can tell it's wearing on you. I mean, you don't mind eating Senior Staff Warden of Leontes cunt, but she just leans on you too much." Fay's mouth twists in sort of a lopsided pout. "She's rather free with forbidden sex spells around you. And she keeps you running round all the time and you never get to see Lolo. I mean, isn't Lolo the whole reason we changed Houses?"

You take a deep breath and end up coughing from the tickling incense filling Granny Threadneedle's cottage.

Fay continues, "So pick something that doesn't keep you under the Warden's cunt-stinking thumb. And something you can throw yourself into. I mean, I feel guilty for distracting you last year. You were doing well with enchantments, divinations and transformations. Mistress called you up to demonstrate for the class more than once. And you did learn quite a lot about potions from Miss Wormwood, that snake-haired bitch, while you were her pet victim. She'd bite your neck to paralyze you, and then bite your mound to make you pop off while you were all stiff and quivering. What a perv. She put a lot of little fang marks in you, you know? I can still see them."

You nod. You hear a faint shift of Granny's chair and look her direction. Her eyes are half-closed and she has a sly smile on her face.

"Potions. Enchantments. Divinations. Transformations," Granny says in a slow, measured cadence.

"You?" you say.

Granny's smile broadens.

"This lies before you," she says, touching her finger to the High Priestess card in your spread.

You bring your finger to meet hers. "This lies before me."

"I've been looking for an apprentice," Granny says.

"I can't, you know, Boarbristle?" you say.

"They know me there," Granny says. "I'll write a note for your Tutor. Come to me as often as you can. Every week. And stay between terms. You can?"

Fay squeezes your hand and nods affirmative.

"I can," you say.

"I'm not an easy mistress," Granny says. "I'm impatient. Moody. And always horny."

Fay snorts. Well, to tell the truth, Fay is, well, all of those things herself.

You gaze into her eyes. Your heart quickens. "None of that is new to me."

"Could you stir a cauldron all night? Lay your hands upon a centaur's prick until he yields his seed?" Granny Threadneedle asks.

"I've done the first for Miss Wormwood. I could do the second," you say. "If he's as well-behaved as your friend this morning."

Granny snorts. "Face down a flock of horny Cockwalkers?"

"I don't know," you say. One of the dangers of the Weirding Woods is a strange beast that looks like a prick and balls on legs, that runs round in flocks looking for things to stick themselves into. Cunts, arses, and mouths, usually.

"Good enough," she says. "Your first task is to make your way back to my cottage, after you deliver my letter to your Tutor."

"Task?" you say.

"By yourself, without following the pumpkinhead," Granny says. "Good hunting!"
