What's next?

Fancy dress and cake Wednesday

Swinging her way across town, Susan cheered and hollered as she swung up as her momentum could take her over the city scape of New York, cartwheeling until her back was to the streets and gravity hadn’t pulled on her for a few scant seconds before she was pulled down and she turned to face the ground quickly approaching her. By the time she was just 50 feet from the pavement, she shot out a web line and swung up to the 50th story floor of an apartment building and jumped off a corner penthouse window to flip and fire another web line to make her way deeper into the city.

“Who needs Coney Island when you’re your own roller coaster.”

Keeping an eye on the ground level below her, Susan made sure she knew where she was. After all, she had a fun date planned with friends today and she’d hate to be late for it. Finding the location AND a narrow alley way to land in and get changed, Susan gracefully pulled back the web line she was swinging from to drop down the alley feet first and landed gracefully on the ground unseen by everyone outside. Her black and white costume instantly taking the appearance of an elegant white and blue silk dress with matching pearls, frills and high heel shoes.

It was quite fancy, but then again that was to be expected for where she was headed. Stepping out into the open and joining the crowd as she crossed the street through the traffic, Susan looked up and smiled as she read the name of the chocolatier sweets café she was invited to.

The dark crescent café.

The moment she stepped inside, she closed her eyes and breathed in the aroma of dark roast coffee and pastries… Along with the alluring scent of rich, dark, European chocolate behind glass shelves and displays. She almost stood there a whole minute soaking in the delicious scent when she heard a sharp whistle from a table nearby and smiled back at her friends waiting for her, with Janet Van Dyne waving back to the woman.

“Hey Suzie!” Called out the diminutive Avenger as she and the others got up from their seats and hugged the Invisible Woman who took her seat with the others and wiggled her shoulders to find they’d all ordered sweets with their drinks.

“So, this is the new place huh?” Susan asked, smiling back at her friends who sipped at their drinks while occasionally plucking at a plate of small chocolates. “Really posh for the neighbourhood.”

“Oh yeah, this is a GREAT place to have fancy dress and cake Wednesdays.” Chirped Jen Walters, plucking another chocolate from the table and tossing it into her mouth. The tall green She-Hulk was wearing a bright yellow and white striped strapless dress and high heel sandals. “I found it last week when I was looking for a bar after work, it just grabbed my attention and here we are.”

“I love the selection” Tigra commented “They even have choices for different sweets other than chocolate.”

Greer Grant was wearing a bright green sundress that contrasted her orange complexion and fur stripes, the woman had her long red hair in a single braid that hung over her left shoulder where her baby boy played with the matching scrunchie that held it together. His antics making Tigra smile as she put down her drink to tickle little William in her lap. “So how are things Suzie?”

“Pretty good, SHIELD wants to talk to Reed after administering the cure to the spider plague on New York a week ago.”

“Bleh…” Janet complained, making a face as she waved her gloved hands. She was wearing a black dress with a matching black button blouse with a golden yellow lining. The ensemble coming with a golden yellow ascott scarf held together with a cute little bumblebee brooch. “I was out of town when Carol told me about it, even shared pictures over the phone when I was doing a shoot in California.”

“It was pretty bad; I was worried poor William here would start crawling up the walls… OR worse!”

A woman in a black skirt and brown button blouse soon appeared at their table and smiled with a pen and notepad in hand, seeing the quartet of heroines and clicking the stopper on the top of the pen to extended the ballpoint to write, she introduced herself.

“Hello ladies, I’m Sally, what can I get for you?”

“So, what are we going to order?” Jen asked, plucking a menu from the middle of the table and eyed the list of cakes they had. “Oooh, they have Sacher torte, maybe I’ll order the whole cake.”

“A cake made with three bars of butter? Honestly, where does all of that go girl? You eat like your planning to hibernate for the winter and not ONE pound of it goes on your ass.” Complained Janet with a smirk, crossing her arms.

Jen merely returned the smirk and shrugged, playfully. “It’s a gift, what can I say?”

“Bitch!” Hearing Greer shush her in front of her son, Janet shifted her eyes and cleared her through. “I mean… Big meany.”

“I think I’ll share a chocolate mint.” Answered Greer, bouncing her son in her lap and smiling down at William who pointed at the cake’s picture. “How about you Suzie?”

Looking over the menu, it was hard for the woman to make a choice, everything just looked so delicious. Going over one option after the other, the woman plucked chocolates from the bowl in front of her while she decided, her eyes finally going wide when she found what she wanted and grinned.

“Hmm, **** by chocolate? I’ll take that.”

“Very good, your orders will be just a few minutes.” With their order in hand, the brown haired woman swiftly turned on her heel and went back to the cashier’s desk to get their food, leaving the four women to continue their chat while they waited.

“By the way, you ladies hear about that new Spider-Lady that’s been popping up of late?”

“Oh yeah… What’s the news calling her?”

“Lady Anti-Venom!” Cut in Susan, plucking another chocolate from the plate at the table. “She’s been doing a lot of good lately, last week she saved a bus from falling into the Hudson.”

“Oh YEAH, I saw those pictures, I wonder who made the costume because DAMN, do I have some creative criticism.” Chuckled Janet, the fashion mogul taking another sip of her drink, oblivious to Susan’s glare.

In no time at all, the waitress returned with their sweets and Susan’s frustration evaporated when she took in the sight of the delicious looking slice of cake on her plate. **** by chocolate was an understatement! Devil’s food chocolate cake with a marbled, three chocolate swirled icing, garnished with dark chocolate shavings and a molded chocolate decoration in the shape of the café’s logo sitting on top like a proverbial cherry.

Hesitantly taking her fork, she cut a mouthful from the cake and inhaled sharply to find it was filled with a deep, dark chocolate glaze. Rolling her forkful of cake in the glaze, she finally brought it to her lips. Breathing in and fluttering her eyes, Susan’s heart skipped a beat from the tantalizing flavour. Her free hand gripping the table as she chewed and savoured the flavours cascading over her tongue. She was lost in a sea of bliss, so deep in the flavour she didn’t even realise she moaned softly, licking her lips and opening her eyes to find her friends staring back at her.

“Do you and your cake need a moment alone Suzie?”

“Heh… Sorry, its just REALLY good cake.” Catching herself, Susan blushed as she went for another bite, stemming her second reaction which was just as intense as the first. Janet had ordered a chocolate mouse and idly picked at it a bite at a time.

In the middle of half-way finishing her cake, she spotted William in Greer’s lap grabbing a handful of his mother’s mint cake and smearing his mouth with the contents. Getting a giggle from the ladies as Greer wiped at his mouth with a paper towel. As she did, Susan noticed an abrasion on his arm and shoulder.

“What’s that?”

Seeing what Susan was pointing at, Greer sighed and tried to check over the dry skin.

“William’s been having some allergic reactions to the formula lately. Hank and I were going to change brands, the doctor said it would clear up in a few weeks, but he’s been itching and scratching it like crazy.”

Mind if I hold him?” Susan asked with her arms extended. Greer did just that, offering the boy to sit in Susan’s lap where he waved his arms happily and accidentally smeared chocolate all over the front of her blue dress.

“Whoops! Sorry about that Suzie.”

“That’s okay…” She spoke up, but her attention was on the boy’s arm the entire time as she traced her fingers over his shoulder and wiped them down. Unseen from the other ladies, Susan extended the symbiote out from her palm which like a balm, lathered over William’s arm and instantly healed his rash. The little boy was none the wiser as he was hoisted up and offered back to his mother, and Susan took a cloth to the chocolate stains to her dress, not so much to clean but to hide her symbiote taking in the chocolate to be digested. Leaving her clean again.

“Wow, what did YOU bring that gets chocolate out like that?” Said an impressed Wasp, leaving Susan to shrug.

“It’s a gift, what can I say?”

“Bitch…” Looking over to Greer, Janet cleared her throat again. “Big Meany.”
