Family

Spencer couldn't help but feel a little anxious as he approached Thuong Thien. Whilst so far things had been going smoothly with his in-laws, part of him feared that it could change. When they enter the restaurant, they see Danielle's family sitting at their table. They waved at the five who continue to walk over.

"Hey guys." Dani said.

"Hey there." The older man sitting next to Angela said. Spencer could tell by the mess of red hair on top of his head, that he came from Angela's side of the family. "You must be the boyfriend?"

"Yes. Spencer right?"

"Yeah."

"Well, I'm John."

"June." Said the woman next to John, who was about his age.

Spencer then looked to the man next to June, who appeared to be pushing thirty, if not already there. The man then said "Ryan, and this is my wife Lilly."

"Hey." Said the petite woman who sat next to Ryan. After introducing his own family, Spencer sat down next to Andy, who said "So how's it going Spence?"

"Yeah good. How was your Christmas?"

"Great. Had some great food, got drunk..."

"I think that's what we did too, isn't it champ?" Geoff laughed.

"Yeah about so." Spencer replied.

"Well, I didn't have to cook this year, so I can't complain." Abigail said.

Spencer looked to his girlfriend. "We all know who to thank for that."

"You helped Spencer."

"True."

"And next year, you're going to cook."

"Is that a suggestion or an ultimatum?"

The table erupted with laughter. Once Dani calmed down, she said "What do you think?"

"The later?"

Dani gave him an exaggerated nod, to which John says "Well you have a year."

"And you've had how long, dear?" Jane asked.

John shrugged as everyone laughed again as the waitress came over to take everyone's order. As they waited for the food to arrive, the table exchanged small talk as Spencer gave his stepparents the occasional glance. Much to his relief, they seemed to be getting along just fine with Dani's family, with Geoff and John soon coming up with plans for fishing trips, and Abigail reflecting on her younger days with Angela.

In bed, Spencer laid next to Danielle, who said "You okay Spence?"

"Yeah. Just a little surprised that's all."

"What do you mean?"

"Well things have just been smoother than I expected."

"Awww. That's because you have good taste in women."

"That I do."

Spencer kissed Dani on the forehead, which led to the two locking lips. When Spencer's hand dared to squeeze on her ass, Dani said "You do that and we're going all the way Spence."

"You can be quiet."

"Not the way you do it."

With a sigh, Spencer laid back down. "Guess that's a compliment."

"Guess so."

"Well, goodnight Dani."

"Night Spence."
