Family History

Gavin had a few days to himself, but it came at the cost of being a week’s travel from his family in a town he was unfamiliar with. Sir Galthias had decided after turning over the bandits to the local prison until a proper prison transport to have them all have some time to themselves, the rest of his squires almost immediately started badgering the local blacksmith with some jabs about Gavin’s lack of proper work, they never took the time to maintain their weapons and focused only on their armor because of their own vanity, they even said some statements about battle scars being beneath them but well within expectations for their equipment, that made a whole lot less sense when all they wanted were swords and looked like they used said swords to beat on armor more than anything else.

Now that he had some actual free time, Gavin had plans to spend his mornings and evenings genuinely practicing his martial arts, the rest of the day would be spent reminiscing about his family’s pride that was seen as a shame by almost everyone among the societal elite, there was a good chance that the common folk really didn’t care one way or another, as long as it didn’t have an impact on their lives they usually didn’t care. It all started ages ago, back when the kingdom was just being founded, if he recalled properly.

It all started with the great-great-grandfather of his great-great-grandfather’s father, as the story was often told to him, there might have been a few more greats in all that but it was hard to keep straight after a while. He was a woodsman named Harlis, one day he found an injured orc at the edge of his forest, a place that has long since had its name lost to the telling of the tale, at the time only male orcs had been observed by humans, some military forces had encountered them but Harlis had never personally seen one and just had a rough understanding from sketches on alert posters and message flyers. This particular orc was severely hurt, and Harlis really didn’t want to deal with the collection of problems that was predatory wildlife in the area trying to consume the orc, propaganda at the time had most of the population of the area, including Harlis, believing orcs would corrupt the wildlife and plants if absorbed into their systems in high concentrations. Harlis was personally not fully convinced but he didn’t want anything happening like that just in case. It was over the course of cleaning and dressing the orc’s wound, who had been **** the moment he found them, that he discovered their anatomy made them a female, which was confirmed after the orc woke up and they were able to establish a line of dialogue. Five years later, the two were living as a happy couple and expecting their fourth child.

Three or four generations later, enough time for the orc blood to be diluted a bit, one of his ancestors, there are actually debates on the name and gender, somehow managed to form a romantic relationship with a troll and they had a child. Two generations later the next monster to enter the fold as a lover was an ocean nymph. The generation after that their third son managed to get a mermaid as his lover. Four or five generations later his next ancestor fucked a werebear, the hereditary curse actually fizzled out in his line somehow five or six generations later.

About twelve generations back, his mother’s ancestor was a woman that got freaky with a minotaur, it was never made clear if it was consensual or not. Regardless, she was shunned and disowned by her family, they also spread the word about why the woman was so undesirable. The child that came from that encounter, which looked perfectly human, was a girl that grew up seemingly undesired by the town she grew up in until Gavin’s ancestor encountered her and was not turned away by her tale, the two were married a year later. There were others he had been told about, but those were the only ones Gavin could recall currently. All that monster blood had some interesting effects on the family as a whole. The minotaur blood led to the females born into the family having larger than usual bust sizes, some could even control their lactation cycles, and often played the part of a wet nurse at much more reasonable rates than most would anticipate. The troll blood meant his family had a more robust immune system and healing ability. The confluence of Orc, Troll, and Minotaur blood meant the males were often born with more noticeably enhanced physiques and groins. The dryad, nymph, and mermaid blood also meant the family had a naturally high resistance to various magics and capability for magic, although his family had only occasionally dabbled in the use of magic and didn’t go very far with actually using it beyond a few parlor tricks. There was always the chance that could change at some point in the future.
