Expanded living

When you arrive at home in the evening, the girls are already home once again. You’re greeted at the door by a very excited halfling. Mazzy practically pulls you inside, not even giving you time to get your shoes off before she’s dragging you down the hall. However, you quickly realize why she’s excited, as you reach the area that was under construction earlier.

The work is done, and the rooms are ready. Mazzy leads you to the new bathroom first, and you find Kenna there, looking around with a grin. “Look how big it is! No more knocking everything over with my wings!”

You chuckle. “You’ll need to share with Sirona, remember. She has wings too.”

Kenna shrugs. “That’s fine! And look, the bathtub is big enough for two. She can join me in there!”

You laugh. “Maybe let her get used to us first.”

The dragon girl puts her hands on her hips. “Oh come on, Brian, you know me better than that. Of course we’ll be good to her.”

Mazzy giggles. “Unless she asks us to be bad.”

You chuckle and roll your eyes. Both girls laugh, and follow you into the new bedroom. Dakota and Ellie are in the empty room, discussing furniture ideas, and they both turn to you with smiles as you walk in. The room is large, with plenty of space for a big bed and a dresser, along with a generous closet built into one wall.

You look around and nod. “Looks great. They do good work, especially considering how fast they build.”

Ellie nods. “S-so Sirona can join us t-tomorrow?”

You chuckle. “Assuming we get some furniture in here, yes.”

Dakota claps excitedly. “Good! We’ll go shopping while you get her tomorrow!”

You smile at her. “You won’t need my help? Moving furniture is a big job.”

Kenna puts a hand on your shoulder, squeezing slightly. “I think I can handle some heavy lifting, my mate. Just handle the new girl.”

Mazzy giggles again. “Well, maybe save the handling for after she gets settled!”

You laugh, looking at the incorrigible little halfling. “You’re awful today, Mazzy!”

Mazzy shrugs. “I’m just excited. Sirona seems like a great person, and I want her to be happy!”

Ellie nods. “She’s sh-shy like me, right? And all of y-you have helped me so much. I w-want to help her too.”

You smile. “Ok, girls. We’ll do it your way. It’s not like you’ve been wrong yet.”

Dakota giggles. “Daddy is so smart!”

She bounces over and gives you a hug. Soon the others follow suit, and you find yourself smothered in affection. Eventually, you all separate, and you look at the happy, satisfied faces of your strange family.

“Ok, so a big day tomorrow. I don’t know how long it will take, but I’d expect that I’ll be done before you are.”

Mazzy shrugs. “Maybe. Or maybe we already picked out furniture and just need to go get it!”

You laugh. “I’m really not in charge here, am I.”

Dakota grins. “Except in the bedroom!”

Kenna smiles. “And even then, sometimes not.”

Ellie bites her lip. “A-are you upset?”

You chuckle and pat the cute little goblin on the head. “Not at all. I’ve never been happier. It’s just not what I expected!”

She smiles up at you, and Mazzy laughs.
