Exit: Mrs. Nespot, kindly grandma
A portion of me decides that this would be a decent world to stop in, after all, if Mrs. Nespot was really the biggest problem in my life, then it seems like this reality might fix it...
"Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for getting all your reports in on time, and covering for some of the junior employee's mistakes. I'm not sure this department could function without you. So after this busy season, I've arranged for you to get a paid week off work without using your vacation time, as a thanks for helping us." Mrs. Nespot says.
I feel a little dizzy. Moments ago I swear I was going to get yelled at for some reason, and I feel like that reason wasn't my fault... That wouldn't make sense though, would it? Mrs. Nespot has always been quite kind and generous. Heck, most of us even call her the office grandma, she even brings in cookies quite often. Though it's hard to shake the feeling that this wasn't how things normally went...
"Thanks! I appreciate the extra time off, I'll keep up the hard work until we're through this hard time to make sure I earn it." I reply.
I may not be manager, but all things considered, life is still pretty good. Maybe I'll use that vacation time to try the dating scene some...
