Exit: A Knight of Many Layers (James)

I consider doing something to make Lilian more physically imposing or bustier but... She's already a dragon in human form: if she wants to she can probably do that herself. The quiet hum of the air returns to the world first as I feel it stir around my body. The dragon-woman kneeling in place hums, hands still pleasantly folded on her lap as she considers my words. "Her majesty and her highness are indisposed, undergoing medical examination in the company of the castle's few remaining priestesses. After which, they will be in talks with the old nobles so as to soothe their most-esteemed egos as to prevent any... rash actions."

Here Lilian's professionally servile expression breaks a moment, allowing a flash of schadenfreude to curl her lips into a smirk which quickly smooths back out as she continues, "In the interim, they have assigned me as your bodyguard and bedmate, to keep you safe, away from malicious actors, and - should you desire - sufficiently..." The sway of her tail momentarily speeds up, and she looks just slightly to the side for a moment as her cheeks redden ever-so-slightly, "...entertained."

"You don't have to do that sort of thing if you don't want to," I offer, just in case I misread her.

But the dragoness immediately shakes her head, "No, no! I, um, I am at your disposal, my lord. I'm not being **** at all. Truly, do you think so little of your lovers? Or perhaps, this is my own error," Lilian nods to herself, "indeed, I think I may have given the wrong impression. It is merely that the castle has a shortage of men as you understand, and this sort of thing... I simply do not wish to fail to meet the standards our majesties have set."

"So, wait, are you a virgin or not?"

Lilian's cheeks turn bright red, and her eyes widen, "What?! N-no, of course not! What an impropriety that would be for a noblewoman to not be experienced in, ahem, 'love' when a suitable partner is found. And you are, ah, very suitable. The dragoness' tail is moving again, her cheeks are still red, and she's smiling just a little impishly.

"Well then," I say, putting my hands on my hips, "since you're asking so nicely..."

At this point, it's not even a surprise when Lilian is as eager to get in bed as her masters. The only real difference is how her actions and mannerisms are more refined, while also being more physically intense. The dragoness doesn't hesitate to take the lead. It's a very welcome surprise, and one I'm thankful for as she helps me work out my stresses.

I'm not sure if it's a dragonish thing, or just Lilian herself, but the dragoness is a very passionate and active lover. Her actions are measured and refined, but also aggressive and energetic. I give her hand a gentle slap. It recoils, but given the nature of the woman I'm embracing I sincerely doubt she was actually phased by such a light blow. "I'll take a break for now," I answer, not sure whether to feel proud or intimidated by the way Lilian's eyes light up. "But I wouldn't mind some more... intimate companionship. You know, to talk with."

The woman smiles and hums, nodding as she lays her head back down on my chest and relaxes, her tail uncurling from us as she does. After a moment of hesitation, she mumbles, "If it pleases my lord, I would not mind entertaining your conversation."

"It pleases me," I say, before pondering what to say. Then, I start with something relatively simple, "...so, how did you come to be in the service of our good royals? I've been here a while, but I've never seen you."

Lilian nods slightly, and shifts her position a little bit to prop herself up and look down at me as she begins her tale, "In my youth, back when I was hardly a hundred years old, the divine mountain we call our home was attacked in the night while our elders were busy at war. As the eldest of those within, I was the one tasked with protecting it... and I was set to fail."

Lilian's tail pauses its near-perpetual motion as she glances away from me, to some distant point. Her wing - and its partner the stub - twitch.

"It was a greater demon, specializing in stealth but hardly incompetent in direct combat, at least to one as inexperienced as me. It severed my wing, and was prepared to finish me when the good king of that time's Armelia - having been fortunately making pilgrimage - intervened along with his entourage. They barely repelled the demon, and in turn saved both my life and the clutch I was tasked with protecting. In turn, the kingdom gained our esteem and - once the elders returned - I was offered up as tribute to the Kingdom to settle the debt."

The dragoness looks back to me, smiling softly, "I was taken in as a ward, and have served House Armelia as best I can since, a few centuries ago. And... that's really all there is to say."

I feel like there's something more to the story than that but... I don't want to pry, either. It's clearly a very personal matter, and I don't want to offend her or ruin the mood. "Thank you, for sharing," I offer, and Lilian's smile becomes more genuine as she nods and nuzzles herself closer to me. Then I ask, "So, what do you normally do?"

Lilian hums, a thoughtful look on her face, "Well, I suppose, in the simplest terms... whatever my mistresses ask me to. Sometimes, I am a soldier, sometimes a messenger, and sometimes a confidant. Whatever needs to be done, I do my best to do it. Most commonly, I am a bodyguard. And spending such time around the various royalty of Armelia, especially in recent times, I tend to serve as a bedmate when they require one. It is of no matter to me: you could not impregnate me if you tried, so there is little to fear from such affairs."

"Huh," I say, "well, that's certainly interesting, and very informative." If nothing else, it seems to imply her loyalty is pretty firm.

"Mhmm," Lilian answers. "Oh, if you have any questions of me, you need only ask."

I give a small nod, and think about what else I might want to know... but I truly can barely stay awake much longer, as interesting as the conversation is. I've pulled enough all-nighters to recognize my body's demands for rest and... I'm in no rush. I can speak more with Lilian in the morning.

And, with a gentle sigh, I close my eyes and let the warmth of my bedmate lull me to sleep. The dragoness makes a quiet noise, and I feel a soft kiss press against my forehead, but beyond this, my mind is too tired and too slow to process what happens as I slip away.
