Eventually, I do

I have been flying through a forest for several minutes now and I still haven’t found the harpy settlement. It did give me some time to think, though. Some time to sort out and question my emotions. Like, if I would do this for anyone from my guild. What if it was Jason who got captured by the harpies? Or any of the other Dark Dragon men. Would I do this for them too? I quickly realize that no, I wouldn’t take such a huge risk for them. The chances of getting discovered and executed are way too high. But then what compelled me to do it for Darx instead? Could it be that he means more to me than just a friend? I have had crushes before, but I can’t recall having had any on Darx. Could it be that I was crushing on him without knowing it? And here I was thinking I had understood how my feelings worked.

I guess I should thank these harpies for stealing Darx from me. If they hadn’t, I might not have found out how much he meant to me. I guess you have to lose someone before you realize how much he really means to you.

But I haven’t lost Darx yet. If he stays with the harpies too long, yes, then I lose him. But as of now I can still get him back. I just hope my mana doesn’t run out before then. Maintaining this glamer is less mana intensive as casting it, but I still lose mana for every minute it is active.

Eventually, I come across what seems to be a large collection of treehouses in the tops of some trees. Finally! I was starting to worry I might have missed a turn. Now I just have to make sure I can blend in well enough. I can’t allow myself to be found out before I find Darx. I just hope they haven’t already **** him.

I enter the harpy village and land on some wooden planks surrounding the first treehouse. At first, I was planning on using my shadow teleportation to enter the building and look inside. But then I remember I’m already running low on mana. If I do that, I’m going to run out before I find Darx. Then the harpies will find me and I will be defenseless. I can’t use shadow teleportation here. Instead, I look through the windows to check inside, but it looks like this house is just a simple residence. Time to move to the next.

I see a few harpies pass by when I’m checking the houses, but they don’t seem to be bothered with me. Hopefully it continues like this. I would hate to have to start tweeting to a few of them.

When I finish my inspection of one of the houses and I scope out the next building, I see a harpy with white feathers and a white dress exit. Let me check that one next.

I fly down to that building and check inside.
