Epilogue (Dream team)

The squad of 8, officially nicknaming themselves the Dream Team, knew that something insidious was afoot after Yang's match against Mercury during the Vytal tournament. Yang swore that Mercury tried to attack her after the match was over and she hit his leg in self-defence. The cameras on the other hand clearly showed that Yang attacked Mercury unprovoked, leading to her disqualification.

Ruby makes the case that Yang must have been under the influence of an illusion based semblance when she hit Mercury- this could have been the work of Neopolitan since her team did not witness the full extent of her semblance's power. Sabotaging Yang could be her **** for Roman Torchwick's arrest.

Weiss, while agreeing with Ruby on the illusion semblance theory, suspects that Mercury's team may be more involved in sabotaging Yang. Ever since Mercury's match with Pyrrha, she felt like something was off about him. Weiss is suspicious that Haven academy might be playing dirty to win the Vytal tournament.

Blake stands with Yang's plea of innocence, though is unconvinced by the motives presented to sabotage her. There has to be something more to this... something that they are missing... Blake asks Team JNPR, who were invited into RWBY's dorm after the incident, for their input. She asks if there is any other reason why someone would want to sabotage Yang, or Beacon they can think of.

Jaune mentions that this may have something to do with the spy Ruby spotted during the Beacon dance. There must be more factions trying to ruin Beacon than just the White Fang.

Ren concurs, however with all the fingers pointed Mistral they cannot forget Atlas in this equation. They brought an armada of ships to Beacon as if they were preparing to defend against an attack... are they expecting something big?

Nora suggests that maybe Atlas is planning some kind of occupation. Atlas used the Breach to justify placing patrol bots on the streets of Vale. If more Grimm attacks through mayhem in the Vytal tournament, they could justify keeping their troops stationed in Vale permanently!

As the room's attention eventually turns to Pyrrha, she becomes uneasy with so many eyes on her. Pyrrha says that she has no clue as to what is going on. Her mind was too consumed with the proposition of becoming the next Fall maiden which Ozpin discussed with her.

Later that day, Weiss talks with Pyrrha alone outside. She comments that Pyrrha seemed absent while the Dream Team discussed Yang's situation, asking if something is wrong. With a little prying, Pyrrha tells Weiss that Ozpin is looking for a strong student to fulfil a role called the "Fall maiden". The Fall maiden is meant to inherit an ancient power. Ozpin needed to pick a new Fall maiden quickly, fearing that peace in the kingdoms may be coming to an end soon.

Pyrrha wonders if it was her destiny to wield such power. Unfortunately, she does not know what the consequences of receiving the maiden power will be. Weiss reminds Pyrrha what she said during their first sparring session- destiny is for the taking. If she believes holding power will be for the benefit of the world then she should take it. If not, leave it for Ozpin to select someone else. In the meantime, Pyrrha has to prepare for her next battle in the Vytal tournament!

Weiss planned on talking with Team CFVY before Pyrrha's match against Penny. She wanted to investigate if there was any evidence of Mercury (or his teammates) using an illusion based semblance during their doubles match against Coco and Yatsuhashi. Ruby was meant to come with her but was too smitten with Jaune to leave his side! She finds Velvet taking photographs of students near Amity Colosseum.

Velvet explicitly mentions Coco and Yatsuhashi saying they experienced "battle hallucinations" during their fight against Emerald and Mercury. That was all the confirmation she needed! Mercury's team intended to sabotage Yang with a doubt!

Adding to Weiss' suspicions, she spots Emerald in the audience before Pyrrha vs Penny begins! Her team returned to Mistral according to news reports- what is she still doing in Vale?! Weiss races to confront Emerald but finds a fully recovered Mercury standing in a tunnel leading to Amity Colosseum's arena.

"Ooh, polarity vs metal. That could be bad..." Mercury comments as Pyrrha vs Penny is about to begin.

Weiss has to outmaneuvre Mercury to reach Emerald in the stands before something terrible is about to happen! She must be the one with illusion semblance, not Mercury! Ruby, Jaune, Nora and Ren cheer in stands as the match commences. Blake and Yang watch from their dorms snuggled up together in bed. They are all oblivious to Emerald's plan! Mercury must have learned what Pyrrha's semblance is during their brief clash.

By the time Weiss makes it to the stands, it is already too late. Pyrrha has managed to tear Penny's body into pieces, revealing that she was a robot. Weiss screams Emerald's name in rage! Weiss spots Emerald in the stands just before Cinder hijacks the live feed to Amity Colosseum.

As Cinder performs her speech, Weiss leaps at Emerald in the stands! They engage in a fist fight that sends them barrelling through the stands. Weiss uses her glyphs to catapult herself and Emerald centre stage. Their televised fight spreads more panic and confusion to rile up the Grimm. Mercury leaves Emerald to fend for herself.

A Nevermore Grimm breaks through the safety barrier to Amity Colosseum. It briefly disrupts Weiss' brawl with Emerald with a large gust of wind. Emerald calls for her rocket propelled locker, knowing she will need a weapon to help fight her way out of her predicament. The team leaders of JNPR, SSSN, CFVY, ARBN and FNKI have a similar idea to Emerald by summoning all of their team's lockers to Amity Colosseum. The lockers pin down the Nevermore.

Ruby and Weiss instead each take one of Penny's swords to defend themselves. Weiss sees Pyrrha is still traumatised by her part in destroying Penny, kneeling and frozen. She checks that they are okay before turning to confront Emerald.

More Grimm pour into the colosseum as students flee to airships. All students except those who took center stage leave. Weiss' duel against Emerald is hard fought while the other students focus on Grimm. Weiss holds Emerald at knife point once she is victorious.

“Talk or I will slit your throat! What is it that your team wants? What is the meaning of all this?!” Weiss shouts.

“We want power! There is a vault somewhere on this campus. It can only be opened by someone blessed with old magic,” Emerald says defiantly.

“The Fall maiden…”

“So you are in the loop? Of course you are! Ironwood probably has your sister lined up to defend the vault in Atlas academy. We will be visiting your home soon, heiress!”

Weiss throws Emerald to the ground in disgust.

“Sun, Neptune, your junior detectives. Cuff her!” Weiss calls.

“Fuck you heiress! When people like you steal, kill and destroy, you call it business. But if people like me try to get ahead, then it’s a crime!” Emerald shouts.

“Tell it to the judge. I hope whatever you were paid was worth it…” Weiss replies coldly.

The Battle of Beacon engulfs the campus with Grimm, gunshots and White Fang goons. Emerald is taken into custody by Ironwood while the students are left to manage the chaos in the streets. Ironwood flies to reclaim the lead Atlas fleet ship from Roman Torchwick. However, the Queen virus manages to take over his droids. A fire fight erupts in Ironwood's ship, causing them to crash land. Emerald is able to escape then regroups with Mercury and Cinder.

Blake and Yang stick together throughout the Battle of Beacon. They encounter Adam in the cafeteria. Meanwhile, Ruby uses a rocket propelled locker to take out the lead Atlas fleet ship. Jaune tells her to be careful. Ruby steals a kiss for good luck and flies away. Pyrrha is back to back with Weiss fighting the White and Atlas robots. Ozpin calls Pyrrha away from the battlefield, saying that she is needed. Weiss knows what Ozpin meant and follows Pyrrha.

Cinder stands atop a roof with Emerald and Mercury watching the bugs beneath them scurry around. The end is nigh. Whatever happens in the next hour will decide the fate of the world.

Ruby survives her confrontation with Roman and Neopolitan. Destroying the lead Atlas fleet ship deactivates the robots which were piling the pressure on Jaune, Ren and Nora.

Blake tells Yang about Adam's semblance before their battle starts. Their tag team at full strength is sufficient to match Adam's strength. Using her semblance after soaking his punishment, Yang manages to break Adam's aura with a gut punch that sends him crashing into the kitchen. The kitchen's ceiling collapses on top of Adam, sealing his fate.

Last but not least, Ozpin orders Weiss to keep watch of the corridor as he begins to transfer the Fall maiden power to Pyrrha. Weiss does avert her gaze, even Pyrrha shouts in pain. She knows that her lover is strong enough to take it.

Weiss' focus allows her to sense Cinder approaching! Cinder followed them into the vault! Weiss clutches Penny's blade- she has refused to call Myrtenaster this whole time until she feels that Penny has been avenged. Weiss deflects an arrow aimed at Amber. She deflects a second aimed at Pyrrha. Weiss then uses a glyph to rush at Cinder. Her duel keeps Cinder at bay long enough for Pyrrha to become the Fall maiden!

Pyrrha bursts from the aura transfer machine radiating with magical power. Together, Weiss and Pyrrha vanquish their foe with ease. Weiss delivers the final blow plunging Penny's blade into Cinder's chest! The last shred of the maiden powers Cinder took is returned to Pyrrha, its new rightful owner.

Ozpin arranges for an emergency evacuation for both Team RWBY and Team JNPR. They need to leave Beacon as soon as possible with maiden powers secured. Before they leave, there is one final feat Pyrrha must perform to salvage Beacon academy. The Wyvern Grimm which haunted the skies had to be slain. Pyrrha ascends high into the skies using her maiden powers and smites the Wyvern with lightning and fire!

The Dream Team escapes the Battle of Beacon unscathed. Vale suffered heavy losses, but Beacon remained standing.

Who knows how much worse things could have been if the Dream Team were not so united… Love has the power to make a difference.
