Chapter 9 by Washotep Washotep

Does Weiss SUCCESSFULLY ask Pyrrha to the Beacon dance?

Yes! Weiss takes Pyrrha to the dance

When Weiss and Pyrrha met the following day after their "sparring session", Weiss managed to complete her mission of asking Pyrrha to the Beacon dance. The news spread like wildfire once they informed their respective teams! The topic of the Beacon dance became the focus of Team RWBY and JNPR for many days. They all became very conscious about having someone to go with. Weiss and Pyrrha's power couple set the standard.

Everyone needed a date to make them shine. Lest they be seen as a lame duck.

Yang was bewildered that Weiss had the courage to ask a girl to the Beacon dance. Yang didn't think Weiss would have it in her to come out so publicly! There were going to be Atlas students and Atlas security at the dance. Did she not care about them carrying the news back to Atlas?!

Yang had been thinking about asking a certain girl to the Beacon dance too... They had been getting cold feet about asking for a variety of reasons. But if Weiss could do it, so could Yang!

Blake had become paranoid during her second semester, obsessive thinking about Roman Torchwick and the White Fang. She was losing sleep over it. Which is why Yang dragged her away from the library into an empty classroom for a talk. Thoughtfully, Yang shared a story of how her obsession with searching for their mother almost got her killed when she was a child. Yang urged Blake to slow down and not let obsession ruin her life.

It was here that Yang thought it best to ask Blake to the Beacon dance. She confessed having her eye on Blake since the first day they met. Yang didn't plan to end up on Blake's team during the Beacon initiation. She doesn't want the fact that they are on the same team to get in the way of the feelings she has. There are many stories of relationships between huntsmen teammates not working out. However, Yang declares that she is willing to take the risk. Yang asking Blake to the Beacon dance was exactly the distraction she needed!

Jaune and Ren feel the pressure piling on their necks when they learn Yang asked Blake to the Beacon dance the next day! Jaune planned on talking with Ren in their dorm to hatch an action plan but didn't want Nora or Pyrrha overhearing them.

Instead, Jaune takes Ren to meet with Sun and Neptune around the school yard. The initial banter of the boys centres around Weiss asking Pyrrha to the Beacon dance. Neptune reveals he was planning on asking Weiss to the dance!

"I am still in disbelief that Weiss Schnee is dating a girl!" Neptune exclaims amidst the group's chatter.

"Both the girls I considered asking to the prom ended up going with each other! How do you think I feel?!" Jaune yells.

"Weiss must be a futanari if she asked Pyrrha..." Sun comments while scratching his chin.

"Get out here! Never in a million years would I believe that Weiss Schnee is a futanari! Yang maybe, but Weiss? Hell no!" Neptune says.

"Yang is not 'maybe' a futanari. She 100% is a futanari! Trust me!" Ren adds.

"So if Yang is a futanari, does that mean Ruby is... Don't tell me she has a dick too?!" Neptune ponders.

"We can't rule out that possibility! Yang is her half-sister. Ruby told me they have the same dad, different moms. Their dad definitely has a futa gene," Jaune replies.

"Scared that the chicks with dicks might be bigger than you huh Neptune?" Sun snarks.

"Shut up Sun!" Neptune shouts.

"Speaking of Yang, she asked Blake to the Beacon dance yesterday by the way!" Ren announces.

"Get the fuck out outta here!" Neptune replies.

"You cannot be serious?!" Sun exclaims.

"These futanari are moving fast! That's why I called this emergency guys meeting! We need to figure out who we are taking to the Beacon dance before the futanari snatch up all the girls and each other!" Jaune declares.

"Damn it! Dude, I was planning on asking Blake! Thanks for telling me though," Sun says.

"The boys are sniped!" Ren comments.

"Ren, that is why you need to ask Nora! At this rate, all of Team RWBY could have dicks and they could have all been checking out Nora!" Jaune remarks.

The boys howl with laughter! The thought of an all-futanari team was absolutely preposterous! Ren jokes with Jaune about needing to ask Nora before Ruby snipes them too!

Ren takes Jaune's words to heart, promptly asking Nora to be his date to the Beacon dance that same afternoon. Neptune and Sun draw up their own plans on who to ask, however Jaune does not have a clue on who his date should be. Jaune did not speak to many people at Beacon besides Team JNPR, RWBY and SSSN. There was hardly anyone he knew outside of this circle well enough to ask...

Jaune asks Ren in private if he is taking Nora as a friend or more than a friend. Ren answers that Nora effectively decided that for him when she got over excited and kissed him!

Jaune felt the need to ask since the only people left without a date to the Beacon dance were himself and Ruby. He really didn't want to screw up asking her or ruin their friendship. If he asked as a friend, it would be safest. Though avoiding rejection as a friend or something more may be impossible...

Ren advised Jaune to keep things simple. He should ask and see how Ruby responds.

Jaune finds Ruby standing beside a wall in the hallways outside the lecture room. People pass by her without hardly noticing she is there. Ruby is visibly anxious. She wants someone, anyone, to ask her to the dance! She had thought about asking a girl or two to the dance. Penny was the first choice she had in mind. The fear of rejection is too strong for her to make a move...

Jaune approaches the wallflower carefully, asking Ruby how she is feeling before popping the question. Ruby masks her anxiety over the Beacon dance by saying she has her mind occupied with exam prep. Eventually, Jaune gets around to asking if Ruby would like to be his date to the Beacon dance.

"Me?!" Ruby squawks in surprise.

"Yeah, you. I don't see why not," Jaune replies, trying to play it cool.

"Oh Jaune, I... I'm speechless! Yes! Wait, that's a word. A sentence! I'm speechless but I can't stop talking! Out of all the girls on this campus, you picked me! I'm shocked! Shocked! That's a better word!" Ruby rambles while blushing.

Jaune did not realise how much asking Ruby to the dance meant to her. In Jaune's eyes, this was a last resort. To Ruby, his choice made her the happiest girl in the world!

Team RWBY and Team JNPR became the centre of attention at the Beacon dance as they arrived together as a squad of 8. Sun and his date, Neon Katt, were the first to spot them approaching the dance hall.

Jaune and Ren led the pack in matching juniper green suits. Jaune's baby blue shirt contrasted well against Ruby's striking red dress. Meanwhile, Ren's pink shirt matched with Nora's pink dress.

Next, you had Yang wearing a black and yellow zoot suit with a fine sugar round her arm! The reactions to Yang's zoot suit were priceless! Blake decided to drop the bow and place her cat ears on full display as she walked with Yang. The zany personality of Yang (amped by her suit) overshadowed disapproving chatter over Blake revealing that she was a Faunus. Blake could have gone with a little black dress but wanted to stand out rather than blend in. Thus, Blake picked out a purple leopard dress to emphasise her feline Faunus trait.

And finally, Weiss and Pyrrha were dripping in jewellery at the back of the squad. Pyrrha wore a white scarf and Weiss wore a red scarf to indicate without ambiguity that they were together. The intense red of Pyrrha's dress shone next to the pure white of Weiss' dress. They were in no rush to enter the dance hall. The aura of wealth and power they displayed made Cinder's team bitterly jealous.

Yang was keen to take pictures with the boys. Neptune's date, Nebula Violette, was stuck with the camera for Team RWBY and Team JNPR until Penny came along to help her. Everyone wanted to be close to the squad. Nebula did not miss her opportunity to stand with the Schnee heiress in a group photo. Unfortunately, the club was closely knit.

The squad of 8 dominated the dance floor too! Yang was glad that she didn't wear a dress so she could challenge Jaune to a dance off! Team JNPR were admittedly better dancers than most of Team RWBY.

After a few slow jams, the squad began to split and do their own thing. Yang managed to sneak off with Blake somewhere private. Ren and Nora sat down to drink. Weiss and Pyrrha stayed on the dance floor. Jaune and Ruby take a walk outside- it is here that they notice what appears to be a spy running on the rooftops towards CCTS.

Ruby tells Jaune that she will confront them and she'll be back soon. Ruby fought the spy inside the CCTS, however they managed to flee the scene. The events which took place on the night of the Beacon dance laid the seeds for the greatest test Beacon's students would ever face. All the players and pieces were set.
