Chapter 6 by Miriam Miriam

Are you a match for the movie industry? How do you answer?

Enhance the truth a little

You bite your lower lip. You try to remain professional, despite the strange vibes you get from the odd interior. This is it; you have to make yourself seem desirable. You don't really have a good answer to his question, so you decide to enhance the truth slightly.

"Well, I've always dreamed of being an actress. Even as a kid I wanted to be a movie star!", you say, despite never having had such ambitions. You may have entertained the thought once or twice, but it's not something you'd ever seriously considered. You try to look him straight in the eyes as you speak, knowing this will make any lie more believable.

"That's a good start. But I need a little more than that", Red answers. "How long have you been acting?"

You try to remember the exact date of your first acting class. It was a few years back, mostly out of boredom. And after a few months you got tired of it and decided to play tennis instead. "Uhm... Maybe, two, three years?", you answer. You don't want to enrich the truth too much, but the moment you say it you feel like you should've claimed more experience than that.

"That's great!", he exclaims, almost to your surprise. "And do you have any experience in movies or TV?"

"No, not at all", you admit, truthfully this time. Perhaps you should have guessed their standards aren't all too high just by the state of this building.

"Oh, don't worry, even some of the best... actresses started without any experience.", he answers with a wide smile. "Now, before we proceed. Do you want coffee or something else to drink?"

Do you want something to drink?
