Ed eats some insects

Ed mashed the insets between some leaves into a paste and then trying to ignore what he was eating scooped the paste into his fingers and ate it. He initially gagged but in his hunger soon found himself licking his fingers clean, he examined the berries and decided that he would only eat them as a last minute option.

He sat in the shade of the cliff and for the first time felt refreshed, not necessarily safe but he could take a moment to think about what his next steps should be. He had played this and other survival games, he knew that once he had a base he would be relatively safe inside unless there were somehow other players in the game. If there were other players then maybe he could communicate with them and find a way to escape this... dream? Afterlife? Hell? Coma?

Whatever it was, the mods he'd installed would have given him free reign if he were a normal player. As the character many things were uncertain but it seemed that he was able to do things within the game that he wouldn't be able to in real life, like carry an unfeasibly large amount of plant fibre while naked.

Deciding to follow the logic of the game he was able to twist some of the plant fibre together to create twine and combine that with more plant fibre to create a rudimentary bedroll, it was something he would have had no idea how to do in real life but here in the game it made perfect sense. Then gathering some conveniently placed loose rocks he was able to tie some of that stone to loose branches which were scattered about to create a rudimentary stone age axe and pick.

Ed reflected that in the real world he would have struggled to have even achieve that, he stood naked on the shadow of the cliff looking out towards the wide river that had provided him fresh water and tossed the pick in his hand figuring it was time to gather more resources to see if he could survive further.
