Ed builds a hut

Ed struck his stone axe against a large rock and broke some pieces off, three more hits and he had broken it into pieces he could use. He methodically smashed the nearby rocks and gathered the stone together before cautiously returning to the river.

The sun continued to blaze in the sky and he took another drink of fresh water from the flowing river, continuing to look around for whatever had attacked him earlier but finding no threat in this area. Needing wood he used his stone axe to cut down nearby trees finding that they fell with four quick strokes to give him the required wood.

Not wanting to venture too far from this peaceful spot in case creatures attacked him again he decided to build a hut for protection until he could formulate a better plan for escaping this... whatever this was.

He had no idea how he did it, but he was able to fashion the wood into a lattice to support the stone and create some flat foundations which could take his body weight. He was amazed that he could do it without training or tools like a spirit level but somehow he was able to crate nice perfect cubes, he didn't even have to dig a hole to place them. Feeling exhilarated by his progress he was even able to create a triangle foundation which might prove a useful skill if he ever needed to expanded his base.

It took more time and resources than he would have liked but he was even able to fashion eleven rudimentary walls by placing stones on top of each other and using pieces of wood to support them even though he didn't have tools or nails. He placed the walls around the outside of the foundations and was amazed at how perfectly they slotted together.

The sun began to set but Ed was able to complete the outline of his hut fashioning a doorway from more wood and stone then finally a basic door fashioned from wood and twine. He continued to be amazed at his skills within this place and how everything just worked even without carpentry tools to prepare the trees he had felled into planks of wood. Despite the madness of the situation how to make things just made sense to him in way that would have been impossible in the real world.

He looked up at the darkening sky as the day ended, he didn't have the time or resources to create a roof but hoped that the walls would keep him safe from animals at the very least. He was relieved that he hadn't seen the bat demon since the first time he'd woken in the desert.
