Don't let her buy a new dress

You'd rather spend the money on Kali. Although you don't have a good reason to deny your wife, you might be tanking your chances with Matt's girlfriend. Although your prank has limited Matt's chances with your wife, there's going to be really no point if you can't wine and dine Kali as well.

"Sorry, honey, I just don't think we can afford it right now."

"It doesn't have to be expensive, it just has to look fancy."

"It's just for one night though, so anything is going to be too much. I can't let you spend that much, just to go out to a restaurant with Matt."

"Can't let me?"

Her face turns dark.

"Last I checked we were married, I am your wife, not a child. I don't need your permission to do anything.I was simply asking if the money is there. If it is, then why can't I buy the dress?"

You open your mouth but no sound comes out because you really don't have a good reason why she can't spend some of the budget. Instead, all you can do is lash out.

"If you aren't a child, then don't act like one and be irresponsible. You cannot use the budget to buy a new dress. Do you understand?"

She sucks on her teeth for a second as her anger rises. You've never seen your calm, introverted wife look so furious before, and you seriously think she might just go on the attack. But much to your surprise, she calmly and coldly just says 'fine' and ascends the stairs again with the old dresses still in hand.

You don't see your wife again for the entire night, except for one point where she comes down and silently drops your pillow and a blanket on the cushion beside you, telling you in no uncertain terms without any words whatsoever that you won't be sleeping in bed that night.
