Dome fossil

"I'll just take this one." I gestured to the giant rounded fossil.

"Alrighty, lift on three!" A loud cracking sound follows as you help lift the fossil out of the rock. Repeating the gesture with the other fossil, we both have a new fosssil to carry around. With a wave goodbye you carry off down the tunnel. More zubats and even the occasional geodude get in your way, only to be pummeled by charmeleon's claws. As you round the corner, you see more light appearing from an opening in the rock.

"Finally, I swear if I had to knock out any more of these bats I was gonna scream." Emerging into the sunlight, you see a nearby sign indicating I was on route 4 headed to Cerulean city.

You knew that the cerulean city gym leader was famous for using water type pokemon, which led to you having the type disadvantage against charmeleon even moreso than against brock. With him, charmeleon's metal claw worked in our favor. I didn't have any tricks up my sleeve with Misty this time around. It was past time I caught another pokemon anyway.

"Let's see what we can find on route 4." And with that, you began walking through the tall grasses, eager to find a new pokemon for your team. Scores of rattatas and spearows charged at you, only to be met by the crippling claws of charmeleon. If nothing else this was excellent practice. It was tempting to capture a rattata, especially after seeing how strong Hannah's rattata was. However, you didn't want to just copy someone else's style. So you kept up your search. Finally a pokemon slithered out of the grass that had potential, an ekins. Your pokedex flashed an update.

"Ekins, the snake type pokemon. A very common sight in grasslands, it flicks it's tongue in and out to sense damger in it's surroundings." The pokedex finished the examination of it, before falling silent again.

"Sounds good to me! Let's go charmeleon!"

Charmeleon looked at the ekins, its menacing gaze slightly unnerving him. Charmeleon shook it off before releasing a giant smokescreen of black haze torwards ekins. Ekins, being blinded, struggled to hear for anything surrounding it. Using its ears instead of its sight or smell, ekins periodically shot out small poison points at anything it deemed a danger. Already the smokescreen was beginning to dissapate. Charmander burst into sight of ekins, charging with his metal claws gleeming green in the murky air. Ekins uncoiled itself in an attempt to dodge but wasn't fast enough. Charmeleon managed to claw alongside the back portion of ekin's body. **** into close quarters, ekins sprang once again, this time landing around charmeleon and began wrapping himself around charmeleon's body.

"Charmeleon! Use ember, get him off of you!"

Charmeleon bit down on a nearby portion of ekin's body, and breathed out scalding hot air laced with embers, causing the snake to cry out in pain and alarm. Dropping off from around charmeleon, the purple snake began slithering away from the fight in an attempt to escape.

"Oh no you don't. You aren't going anywhere." I grabbed a pokeball from my backpack and primed the button on the side. I threw it at ekins, and crossed my fingers as he got sucked into the pokeball. The ball shook once, then twice, before clicking and falling silent and motionless on the ground. I cheered and ran up to hug charmeleon.

"Way to go Charmeleon! We got another team member!" I kissed the top of his head, overcome with jubilee. Blushing slightly, I made my way over to the pokeball before attaching it to my belt. I also returned charmeleon to his pokeball, unable to look at him directly wothout blusbing slightly.

"I need to be more careful with myself. Next thing I know I'll be kissing charmeleon on the mouth."
