Dinner at Evelyn's

"Small place." Amy said.

"Hey, don't say that." Spencer parked the car in front of Evelyn's place.

"Sorry. Cozy."

The two got out of the car and head to the door. Hearing Spencer knock on her door, Evelyn called out "Come in."

Spencer opened the door and came inside, heading straight for the kitchen where Evelyn is cooking, wearing her duty pants and a tank top. "Hey guys. Sit on down."

"Smells great Evie. Whatcha cooking?"

Evelyn looked to Amy. "Well I decided to try and one up your father, so I've decided to cook some stir-fry."

"Okay. Cool."

"Just remember who's paying for your college intuition sweetie." Spencer interjected as he sat down.

"Well from what I hear you need all the yelp you can get." Evelyn retorted.

As he chuckled, Spencer said "That's not what you said last night."

Evelyn shrugged. "Fair point."

She then moved over to the table with two bowls in hand. The two began to eat, with Amy saying "Mhmm, this is really nice Evelyn."

"Yeah. Good job." Spencer added.

"Thanks guys." Evelyn then sat down with her bowl. "So you get up much today Amy?"

"I did a bit of drawing."

"Oh, okay. You're into art?"

"Yep."

The three eat some more, before Amy asked "So how was your day Evelyn?"

"Good. Got to tackle someone."

"Yeah?"

"Yep. Tried to climb out a window."

"Was it a chase?"

"Well, it would've been if I hadn't tackled them."

After their meal, Evelyn said "Well, you guys are welcome to stay a little while."

"Sure." Spencer said.

Evelyn then looked to Amy. "The boys have an X-Box if you're into that."

"No thanks. I actually brought my sketchbook."

"Ah. Could I take a look?"

"Sure."

Spencer smiled with the ease Amy had adjusted to the new person in her life. Part of his apprehension with dating had always come from his concerns of how his daughter would take it, but she seemed to deal with it rather well. He figured that it also helped that Evelyn seemed to take a genuine interest in Amy's drawings. The three would go on to exchange small talk for the rest of the night before going their separate ways, with Spencer eager for the next time he'll meet with Evelyn.
