Demon Hunt
Demon Hunt
Colonel Bate quickly had his marines set up a Comm link to HQ and shouted to 1st lieutenant Jake Peterson to come over to him at once.
Lieutenant Paterson ran over and saluted smartly before standing at ease, Colonel Bate looked directly into Lieutenant Peterson's brown eyes and spoke, “Lieutenant I want you to take a squad on recon petrol over to near the edge of the Deiter Square and report to me in the next hour.”
“At once Sir, and if I may ask a question, Sir?” asked Lieutenant Peterson.
“What is it?” snapped Colonel Bate. As he looked down, Colonel Bate noticed a glint off the white gold wedding ring Lieutenant Peterson wore on his right hand inside the clear glove of his containment suit.
“What if we should encounter civilians on the patrol?” asked Lieutenant Peterson.
“Then have them brought back here, but do make sure they’re the real McCoy first. If not, do what is necessary,” replied Colonel Bate. “Lieutenant I had no idea you where married,” he added.
“Yes Sir, been for the last month now. I just married my high school sweetheart,” said the Lieutenant happily.
“Good for you, Lieutenant. Now let’s get back to business,” Bate said as Corporal Portland ran up to them. “What is it, Corporal?” demanded Colonel Bate.
“My Fire team came across something that you must see, Sir,” said Corporal Portland in a slightly nervous manner.
“And where is Ms Peel while all this is going on?” asked Colonel Bate.
“She’s with my Fire team, Sir, running a few tests,” replied Corporal Portland.
As they neared the area where Corporal Portland’s fire team was, Colonial Bate was unnerved at the almost deserted camp site with the tents looking as if they had been torn open and ripped girl’s clothing lying on the floor.
“My God!” said Colonel Bate, “What kind of things would do this?”
“Demons, Colonel,” said Ms Peel as she stepped out of a nearby tent. Bate and the other Marines were shocked to see that she had removed her containment suit. She walked out toward them in the smart, black business like suit she had been wearing when she arrived at the base. Its short jacket hugged her waist. The white silk blouse beneath was open slightly at the neck. The trousers of the suit were a little wrinkled from their time inside the containment suit, and Ms. Peel had even managed to put her black patent leather pumps back on.
