Chapter 8

Who haunted his gaze?
Delora Vanderin, of course.
Terran was silent, as he looked on, seeing his creator in his sight. Not overlaid on Elyrah, merely standing on her own, beside her, looking at Elyrah judgingly, before her gaze moved to look at Terran, himself.
As this occurred, Terran threw the figure within his grasp to the side ineffectually, though still sending him a few hundred feet away, as he slowly shifted his form, standing before the absence of a presence, drawing an odd glance from Elyrah.
“Are… Are you really there?” Terran asked to nothing, as he looked on to the beautiful figure of his creator. Maybe it was a mere hallucination, but Terran couldn’t face that…
But then, this apparent nothing responded, “My dear Terran, haven’t you grown…” She spoke, as she hugged his form.
“How… How are you here? Am…I shouldn’t even have a mind… How have I gone mad?” Terran asked aloud, as he laid limply within the nonexistent grasp holding him…
She smiled, as she spoke softly, “I’m here… But I’m not not, it’s a tricky issue… But maybe one day, I’ll actually return. Until then, live your life to its fullest, and don’t let anyone say you're crazy… You’re my magnum opus, my legacy. My creation of you was the greatest thing I could’ve ever done, never forget that…”
“I won’t forget… I won’t.”
And, she disappeared, as Terran was left alone, Elyrah a few feet away, slightly addled, as she gazed at his form. Then, she slowly approached him, “Terran? Are you ok?” She asked, as she gently laid her hand upon his shoulder.
Terran in turn, grabbed her wrist, hefting her up upon his back, as he fastened her in, before launching them away, at shockingly high speeds, as he expertly maneuvered through the skies, , as he spread the clay in his form in such a manner he began coasting through the air, making their way man hundreds of miles from the point.
As the duo were soaring through the sky, Elyrah was looking out through the opening her spot had, as she soared in the closest thing to an airplane that exists in this world.
All the while, she was thoroughly shaking from both the sight before her, and the previous occurrence, as she simply looked upon Terran.
Then, Terran simply soared through the skies, as he found a spot to land, just a few miles from a nearby city, before slowly descending to reach it.
And so, Terran and Elyrah were on the edge of the dense forest, as they began walking through it, making their way to the city, and on the way, Terran had sent a few tendrils to scope the underground for clay reservoirs. And after a few minutes, the two had reached the city walls, as his senses had found many more hundreds of ponds of clay.
As they made their way to the city entrance, Terran changed his form to an eight foot tall, goliath of a man, as he walked beside Elyrah, approaching the city gate, as they waited in a short line for their turn.
And, after a few minutes, Elyrah had talked the guard into letting the duo pass, with the passing of a few gold coins, in order to avoid the massacre that would surely follow Terran being disallowed entry.
Then, Terran and Elyrah were walking inside of the somewhat heavily guarded cityscape, as they made their ways past a few storefronts, as Terran began sensing a few figures in the shadows. Though for once, the figures didn’t seem to be intent on attacking him, as they kept their gazes upon Elyrah the entire time.
‘Would she still admonish my actions if they were to protect her?’ Terran laughed to himself, as Elyrah watched on in shock, fearful of who he’d slaughter next, before she suddenly sensed the presence of the hidden figures.
This drew her to begrudgingly ask, “No Terran, please not here…”
As she expected him to ignore her request entirely, Terran instead grabbed Elyrah by the waist, walking away at an unbothered pace, as his grin widened, “Don’t worry, dear… I’m not so arrogant as to challenge the entirety of the city… Without enough clay, that is.” And then, a haughty laugh, as he hefted Elyrah into his arms, a rushing away, pushing gingerly through the crowds, as the two evaded the gazes of the followers, expertly deceiving their sight, as Terran simply launched himself into the skies of the city, slowly descending onto the roof of an obscured building.
But, as they thought they’d escaped, they heard a voice call out.
“Why’re you running away so fast?”
