Chapter 27 by Yabusa Yabusa

What brilliant idea pops into your head to fix the coin?

Decide to head to King estate

...Or what if it was that box the coin was in. Maybe that has some sort of connection, like it could 'fix' a coin if something happened. Emilia could've kept those coins in any box, why would she keep them all in that old thing if it didn't maybe have some connection to the coins?

You took a deep breath, steeled yourself, and made the decision to visit the King estate once more. Emilia gave you the coin, she would have to know what to do! Maybe there's like a coin warranty or something. Now all you need are your car keys so you can drive over and... you looked around once more. No keys. Sometimes Archer would borrow your car to drive back to her place when it was late and then return it later, but this wasn't a good time at all!

Well, at least you still had your bus pass. Time to take a bit of a walk... you started to change into something a bit more reasonable with some of the clothes Felicia picked out for you, packed your backpack with a change of clothes as you typically did in case the magic somehow just was late and kicked in while you were outside. That might be beyond devastating if that happened, you'd be a laughing stock..! You changed your mind. Oversized t-shirt, hoodie, and stretchy sweatpants. At least if you changed into a guy all of a sudden, you wouldn't be caught in clothes you couldn't deal with. You kept one of the bras on, just because it was going to be uncomfortable to wander around outside with your breasts rubbing and bouncing against one another and the fabric all day without any support. You knew this much by now at least. As for your shoes... you'd just have to take your chances, you don't have any better options if your feet suddenly grew a few sizes. At best, you could leave them a little loose so your feet might pop out rather than burst through.

You looked in the mirror. It wasn't... great. But you weren't out to impress anyone today. Baggy and oversized hoodie wasn't really that bad anyway, sometimes it can be a cute look for a girl and at least wouldn't be completely out of place. Only if you tried to flop around in ill-fitting pants far too long for you would you feel totally stupid.

You headed out, strolling up the street to the bus stop. It was your first solo venture into the city like this, you typically always had Archer here with you. Even under the thick cotton hoodie, you felt a bit exposed, your shield was absent. It wasn't that you couldn't throw a punch or defend yourself normally, but you were usually the one who managed to de-escalate things when Felicia's impulses got the better of her. And that was usually very different scenarios, with very different motives, than what you think you might encounter when out and about.

Speak of the devil. As you stood at the bus stop, you heard a whistle from behind you, as some college guys approached. You barely turned your head to see them in your peripheral vision, but you tried your best to pretend you were ignoring them. Even in this oversized hoodie, really?

"What's your name?" you heard from behind you. You stood still, pretending they were talking to someone else.

Soon, you heard it from the front, as the two guys stepped around you from either end. Yet another complication for today... you should've just walked to Archer's place and waited or something. That would've been smarter. You took a step back. "Look, I just want to ride the bus," you said.

It wasn't that you couldn't defend yourself, normally. You knew how to throw a punch, you've been in scuffles before. But those were for very different reasons, and they didn't typically start with two men staring at you with a sort of hunger. You recognized it, you'd seen it in bars before, you'd seen people look at Felicia that way, even. They didn't for very long, but they tried.

One of the guys took a step forward. "Hey, it's not like we're being unreasonable. All we wanna know is a name. Maybe a phone number, and a smile. Smiles cost you nothing, you know."

You balled your hands up into fists, and took one step back. They took another step forward. You could maybe do damage to one--you wanted to, that's for sure--but who knows what the other might do. These were not guys thinking about long-term consequences, they were very much in the heat of the moment. Maybe you could run? If you just bolt, maybe you could get away from them. Maybe you play along, give a fake name and number, but you knew that some guys would immediately check that stuff on the spot now. You could scream and yell and probably attract some attention at least... maybe a bystander would help. This would be SO much easier if you were a guy right now... of course, it wouldn't even be happening in the first place.

Either way, something had to end this uncomfortable stalemate.

Comply, resist, or..?
