While hidden amongst a bunch of people, I can’t help myself from staring at Mia. It is not like I feel Mia can’t defend herself. She has already proven that plenty of times. But it can’t be said that Fabe is a weak guy. The only reason I can beat him in a fight is because I am quick on my feet and can avoid his punches. If he were just as fast as me, I wouldn’t stand a chance. For Mia to be with a guy who can lord his strength over her. It sure makes me nervous.

Fabe and Mia then walk away from Cal, together. And Fabe even has his hand around her waist. Keep calm, Darx. Just stick to the plan.

I wait until Mia and Fabe have disappeared into the crowd. Then I head for the back of the inn and come in the back door. Since Oliver’s parents know me so well, they don’t mind. I hurry up to Oliver’s room and let him and Emma know it’s time to move.

Oliver takes his backpack and I grab Emma’s. I ask him if he needs to say goodbye to his parents first, but he tells me him and Emma have already taken care of that. His parents knew he was going to leave tomorrow anyways so they were ready for him to leave. With Fabe having beaten him up yesterday, they were even supportive of him heading out a day earlier. They are also quite happy that Emma is going with him so their son at least won’t be alone.

In that case, there was no longer a need for us to wait.

We sneak out the back door and make our way to the village entrance. There was a wagon there, just like Oliver said, and a couple of people are gathered around. I help Oliver and Emma inside, including their backpacks and now we just wait.

After a good while, when everybody is on the wagon, the driver prepares to leave. I explain him that Mia promised to come by and say goodbye to her sister and ask him to wait a few more minutes. He tells that he can easily wait five or ten more minutes, as long as it’s not half an hour.
