Classic Route

You decide to take the old route that you used to take back in high school as the address was one of your old apartments. After 10 minutes of walking, you text Brooke that you're downstairs. She texts back that she would be done with work in about 10 minutes and would be there in around another 10 minutes. You then decide to kick back and take a nap outside the building on one of the many benches.

A little later, you hear an angelic voice whisper, "Hey sleepy boy, are you coming in or not?" he opened his eyes and saw Brooke giggling as she stood over you. Hearing her giggle brought back many painful memories as deep down you wished that it was you who married Brooke and she never cheated on you all those years ago. You get off the bench and follow her into the apartment but notice once you headed inside there wasn't much. As a matter of fact, it seemed the apartment contained furniture for one person and a guest. You turned to Brooke, "Hey if you're engaged to Adam, he would be living with you. But the apartment looks pretty damn empty." She then gained a solemn look and said nothing but instead headed to the couch and put her face in her hands. Startled at the sudden movement out of nowhere you join her on the couch and ask her, "What's the matter?" She then looked up and you were shocked to see tears streaming down her eyes. She then launched herself into your arms just like she did back in high school when she had a horrible day and out of instinct you did the same thing you used to do in this situation because you knew it was the right thing to do. You held her gently and rubbed her back while whispering soothing words. This seems to have the effect you needed as she slowly relaxes and after 5 minutes she pulls away and wipes her eyes. You look at her more gently knowing she was not in a strong state at the moment and ask, "What happened?"

Brooke then finally confessed everything. "As you know, I thought you were cheating on me back at High School thanks to those two backstabbing pieces of shit you now call ex-friends. I believed them because they were your friends after all and soon I thought I was falling in love with Adam. But he started becoming abusive towards me and that's why I broke up with him. So the whole engaged to him thing was just a lie. The reason is because I realized I was the backstabber. You would never willingly cheat on me without a reason and all you did was flirt with other girls. It sent me into a mental depression for a while until I went to see a therapist. She really helped the next few years but the pain was never gone. I wanted to see you again and beg for your forgiveness. You really were the only one I can really consider my OTL." she finished as she started sobbing into your soldier.

You were shocked and saddened. He couldn't believe that his own two ex-friends were pieces of shit even before they broke up and now they turned his ex-girlfriend into a broken mess. He started comforting her again and letting her cry and soon she cried herself to sleep. He smiled as he saw how peaceful she looked when she slept. He carried her bridal style into her room and laid her on her bed. He then noticed her computer was on and out of curiosity you saw she left open a window that appeared to be a journal.
