Chapter 17 by LittleBigDeath LittleBigDeath

Who do you choose?

Choose the Dark One

You might as well get this bitch off your back...actually you'd very much accept her being on your back, provided the option of being on hers isn't available.

You take in her luminous body, her jet black hair that seems at once unkempt and yet somehow groomed to an extent. She succeeds the most at covering her ass and genitals, as the black fur wrap seems more like some kind of diaper, utterly obscuring an goods. All that could be forgiven by the simple fact that she seems the most devout in keeping her lustrous hair out from in front of her epic knockers. Plus, the fur swaddling, in spite of being as black as her hair, nonetheless serves to accentuate the bold curve of her robust rump.

She's bigger than the other girls, but far from fat at the same time.

And clearly you've had a number one fan in this shaman, for that must be her function in this tribe, since the revelation your "divine" status. And she never misses a chance to show it.

She leads you hungrily to a tiny alcove of the cave, her "room", perhaps?

As you approach, you pass a large and detailed mural in the center of the cave not far from what must be the communal fire, illumined by its own small but no less impressive (obviously well tended to) kindling.

It looks to depict a large dinosaur--a sauropod, a plant later, if you recall your research correctly--a long necked, long tailed titan of the tree tops. You remember seeing several of the beasts on your way to this cave, variously referred to as brontosaurs, apatosaurs, and diplodoci, depending on who is observing...around the monster is gathered a throng of people, bound together by holding hands. They form a perfect circle around the creature, save for one lone figure at the bottom center, who, independent of the rest, appears to be hurling a spear at the massive animal.

You don't know what it means, and have no time to contemplate...

She leads you to an alcove not far from the mural. Her black hair reaching down to almost past where you know the black bear (if that's what it is) skin begins gives the illusion that she's wearing nothing but her own natural mane to clothe her.

You notice also that, as with Mutukwa, the bottoms of her feet appear spotless. Strange, but not an unwelcome observation.

Her area of the cave is ever so slightly bigger than the others, and appears stocked with all manner of arcane-looking objects, some of them rather disturbing:

Several dead birds line the floor, some of them rotting (you can smell them), with maggots crawling on them. You gag a bit, particularly as you notice that it looks as if they were ripped apart. You at least hope they were dead before such a fate befell them. You also notice their maggot-ridden entrails are either missing or strewn about the circumference of their corpses. A divination practice, you recall from your research on primitive peoples.

Bones, mainly claws and teeth, hang down from strings tied to the ceiling's stalactites and, something else; in addition to the claws and teeth are...human skulls.

Some hanging from the ceiling, and some...quite a few, in fact...lining the back of the wall on a raised outcropping where the Dark One currently sits, seated on what is definitely the skin of a large bear (the skull and face still attached being a dead tip off). In the center of the skulls is one very large skull, belonging to some kind of dinosaur.

This one, and only this one, is illumined by a series of bowls alight with some flammable substance inside them.

Could that have belonged to...one of the sauropods depicted on the cave's wall?

What about those human skulls...enemies? Loved ones (they must love really hard...)?...Dinner?

Incidentally, where are all the men?

The Dark One sits cross legged on the remains of the bear and bids you sit across fro her. Only now can you see that the skin is bedecked with all manner of bowls, herbs, roots, and sharp objects...

You can also see the semi-gutted corpse of a large rodent, not unlike a miniature capybara in front of the Dark One.

She's been busy.

You learn that her name is Marubo, and she is indeed the tribe's spiritual leader.

Still holding your spear across your lap, [ if you visited Mutukwa before her. If not, she hands you one] she stands up, pointing to the weapon, she then points back to the huge animal's skull, and then back to you and the spear.

"Ah, ah!" she says drawing a clear connection between you, the spear, and the dinosaur skull.

They don't really expect you to kill one of those things for them...do they?

"Ah, ah. Ah, ah, tuki, yah!" she continues as she hurriedly begins to thrust her hand into the dead rodent's exposed innards, taking out some intestines.

She then goes over to the side of the cavern's wall, near a small hole. She then kneels down to the side of the hole, and puts her gut-filled hand to it.

You watch her. And watch her. You're not sure if she's keeping her position o account of posture, or the simple fact it looks almost like she'd sitting on her boobs, certainly big enough for a makeshift chair or table as they push up against her in rebellion against her attempts to get lower to the hole.

This goes on for a few minutes, and while you could watch that for eternity, a hissing sounds from the left can't help but steal your attention...

There, crawling out from behind the altar, if that's indeed what it is, is the biggest snake--a constrictor of some sort--you've ever seen.

And its headed for Marubo.

Oh no!
