Chapter 3 by timetimemachine timetimemachine

Who?

Chie Version 2

Chie Satonaka didn’t talk. She yelled. She didn’t walk. She ran. She was “the extrovert” and whether that was made clear by delivering a kung fu drop kick onto a shadow monster’s face or winning competitive eating challenges, Chie made herself known. And, in this sleep little Japanese town, people knew Chie.

Today, her dark brown eyes glittered with playful mischief as she looked down at the book carefully cradled between her hands. The kung-fu enthusiast pushed a lock of her short brown hair back, pulled her favorite high collared green jacket over her back, and headed for class with a cat’s smile on her face matching the decorative buttons on her clothes.

She was the tomboy of her friends. It was her vibe. As Chie would say “she was the yang to her friend Yukiko’s Yen.” For some reason, Yukiko always got a big smile and would laugh when Chie told her that. Yukiko wore modest long black skirts that showed off her cool beauty, Chie wore miniskirts that showed off her toned athletic legs. Her friend was the heiress of a traditional inn, Chie was going to work in the service. If Yukiko was the traditional Japanese princess of their small town, Chie would be the knight errant. That’s how the duo had lived their lives

However, it seemed like just recently, things had started to change. New friends, new foes, new mysteries had all come at once to their quiet little town. However, today things seem to be changing quicker than ever.

“Oh, hi Yukiko, I didn’t see you there” Chie exclaimed as she bumped into her fellow student and friend.

“It's no problem, Chie,” the black-haired beauty replied as she readjusted her hair ornament and clothes. Yukiko craned her neck upward to try and meet Chie’s eyes. “It must me difficult being so tall sometimes, I still remember when you got that giant growth spurt out of nowhere last year”

The heiress noticed that Chie’s smile seemed to widen in response to her comment. “It’s honestly no problem at all. In fact, it really gives me a great view.”

Yukiko puzzled over her friend’s words before deciding that they probably didn’t mean anything. Meanwhile, she continued to straighten her outfit. For some reason, she had chosen to wear this deep white V-neck that exposed the valley of her cleavage instead of her usual red cardigan. The idea of wearing anything more over her chest today just felt uncomfortable.

And, as the other students arrived and took their seats for class, Yukiko rested her chest against the desk and watched without concern as Chie opened the notebook she was carrying and started writing.

What's next?
